Plurk… not just a stomach noise

I am STILL figuring out what Plurk is, and how to use it.

I had originally signed up with father_z but I won’t be using that.

Right now I am using the same as my twitter address: fatherz

Also, I am trying to integrate Plurk (‘scuse me!) with Facebook and Twitter.

In the meantime, to lift my spirits as I descend into the cruelty of yet another tool of social communication sure to grind my already fraying mental energies to the breaking point, vote for WDTPRS in the Bloggers Choice Awards.

  1. Well we are all excited to welcome you over there. You can delete the old profile by the way in “My Account”.

There are lots and lots of dancing bananas.

Welcome to our new little bit of “Catholic community fun”

(Mem – Father L is a party pooper! Father Z is way more fun!)

  7. Peter says:

My only regret is that I have but one vote to give… Welcome to plurk, Father!

  8. Christina says:

Also in search of Fatherz on plurk!

  9. John Enright says:

Not sure what a “plunk” is, but I don’t think my stomach ever made one. Of course, there are other noises . . . but I digress!

  10. John Enright says:

Sorry. Meant to say “plurk.” Don’t do them either. LOL!

  11. memoriadei says:

    Joyfulmom and fatherz, to splain:

We talked about how to get FatherZ on plurk. It was decided that one way would be to secretly get Father L in on it by joining Plurk which would then “bug” FatherZ into joining. And then we would all have a great time participating in their bantering about.

So, I wrote an email to Father L requesting his assistance. He wrote back to me declining the invitation.

All in fun and good will but to no avail. However, as it turns out, we have FatherZ !

How can we vote when the voting is closed for the 2008 blogs?

  13. The Crescat says:

I knew it was only a matter of time… :-P

  14. cuaguy says:

mem, the voting is for 2009, disregard the statements that say that the 2008 awards are closed

  15. Fr. Peter says:

    Fr. Z,

The best way to intergrate all of these things is with another site called ping.fm you post once on ping and it will post on Twitter, Plurk, and Facebook.

    Blessings

I’m glad you’re the one called to this kind of “new evangelization” and not me. I always thought Livejournal was a little too touchy-feely and content-free, so you imagine how unthrilled all these social networking sites make me.

Sigh. Maybe there’s a bright side. Maybe all the spamming machines will be redirected into social networks, and the rest of us can go back and play on Usenet.

  17. JlovesR says:

Remember – ‘mark all as read’ is your friend :)

  18. memoriadei says:

    Faddah,
If you don’t make us your friends, can you see what we say to you?

  19. RichR says:

the blog, twitter, facebook, and now plurk.

Fr. Z., you must be spending all your time keeping up with all these social networking sites. At some point, I would get too overwhelmed.

  20. RichR: The Facebook, Twitter and Plurk are all sort of tethered together. Some aspects of the blog are also picked up by Facebook because of a plugin. I have delimited what I want to use these tools for and they really don’t take up my time. They can speed up certain things.
