SYRIA: Bombs in confessionals

I am catching up on the news.  To my horror I saw a story at Vatican Insider, to my knowledge only in Italian at this point, wherein the the Syrian Melkite Greek Catholic Patrairch, Gregorios III, revealed during a visit to London that remote-controlled bombs had been planted in confessionals.

Christians are being murdered for refusing to convert to Islam.

Is there a lot of outrage in the main stream media?

Imagine what would happen in the press if some Christians killed a Muslim who refused t convert to Christianity.

  1. Cantor says:

    Oh c’mon, Padre…

When a dog bites a man, that’s not news because it happens so often. But when a man bites a dog, that’s news.

Parallel on more than one level.

  2. Jim of Bowie says:

It’s not only the press. Every week in the Prayers of the Faithful, we pray for all manner of victims, but in my diocese at least, we never pray for the thousands of Christians from Africa to Indonesia being killed daily by Muslims.

  3. James Joseph says:

I saw this story a few days ago with a pleasing picture of Patriarch Gregory III.

It was in the Telegraph, October 16th issue.

As usual I was alerted to it through the work of a Melkite deacon with a thick Middle-Eastern beard named Spencer.

  4. C. says:

Martyrdom in the confessional is like a free upgrade.

If the jihadis tried this stunt in the States, the triggerman might die of boredom.

  5. Priam1184 says:

I don’t honestly know that it is even remotely possible that the idea of killing a Muslim who refused to convert to the Faith would ever even occur to a faithful Christian. Despite how the media likes to portray us, that has just never been our style…

  6. Venerator Sti Lot says:

In how far is the Syrian Melkite Greek Catholic Church something like ‘a house divided’? I am thinking of the astonishing Archbishop Hilarion:

I read stories like this and pray I would have the courage to stand strong.

I don’t read Italian but Bing translated it for me well enough to see that Vatican Insider got the story from the Telegraph, here it is:

  9. i read stores like this and i wonder why we tolerate it?

Cantor: Yes, it’s dog bites man, but in this case, if a man ever bit a dog the MSM would used it to prove how terrible all men are.
