  1. Darrin says:

Almighty and Eternal God, You are the everlasting health of those who believe in You. Hear us for Your sick servant, Father John Zuhlsdorf, for whom we implore the aid of Your tender mercy, that being restored to bodily health, he may give thanks to You in Your Church. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

    Feel better soon Father.

  2. Bob B. says:

For my son-in-law who lost his job this past Wednesday. With a 15 month old daughter and his wife, may he find employment soon.
And may everyone be healthy at this time of year.

  3. Gratias says:

But your website suddenly recovered its beautiful layout Dear Father Z.

    A blessed Christmas to you.

  4. Nun2OCDS says:

Lord, he whom thou lovest is sick.

  5. VexillaRegis says:

Of course I will pray for you! Not fun for a priest to get ill just before Christmas.

  6. Deborah Maxwell says:

I am so sorry to hear this Fr. Z. Please know that I keep you in my prayers and will pray this evening to Mary, the Mother of God that you will be returned to health and be able to continue the work you do on this blog.

  7. benedetta says:

I sincerely hope that you feel better quickly, Father. I will keep you in prayer. I wonder if you can get hold of some Emergen-C which I find helpful.

  8. Liz says:

    Praying, Father.

  9. Consider it done. As you do for us, it’s a privilege to do so in return. There’s strength in numbers.

Now, on your way (if you can) to rest…tea and lemon, toast, and a good book.

  10. yatzer says:

Oh my, not that there is a good time to be sick. Airplane conditions certainly do not help. Prayers for you and your mission.

  11. Mike says:

Almighty God, we beseech Thee, accept our prayers and sacrifices upon the soul of Thy priest. Eternal High Priest, we pray that the minister of Thy sacraments may be swiftly restored to health of mind and body. Mary Immaculate, Health of the Sick, pray for us!

  12. Mike says:

    Let’s try that again…

Almighty God, we beseech Thee, accept our prayers and sacrifices and shower Thy healing grace upon Thy priest. Eternal High Priest, we pray that the minister of Thy sacraments may be swiftly restored to health of mind and body. Mary Immaculate, Health of the Sick, pray for us!

    Prayed and praying.

Will add a prayer for your return to health, Father. And although those of us who are Catholic have an actual pastor to care for us, it might not be out of place for us to consider you in that role vicariously and thus offer this in addition for you, at Christmas:

    Prayer for Our Pastor

    Lord, I thank you for having given us a man, not an angel, as pastor of our souls;
Illumine him with Your light, assist him with Your grace, sustain him with Your strength.
Do not let failure dishearten him, or success render him proud.
Make us docile to his voice.
Make him for us a friend, a teacher, a doctor, a father.
    Give him clear ideas that are concrete and possible;
Give to him the strength to carry them out, and to us, generosity in collaboration.
Have him guide us with love, with his example, in word and deed.
Let it be that in him we see, revere and love You.
Let it be that no one of the souls that You have entrusted to him may be lost.
Save us together with him. Amen.

Adding my prayers to those of my fellow readers here.

Everyone I work with, including me, has been hit with some sort of nasty bug within the last few weeks. It starts out as a sore throat for a few days and then turns into a hideous sinus and respiratory thing (mostly sinus). Praying you haven’t been hit by that. But if that’s the bug that’s got you, my co-workers who took the antibiotics didn’t bounce back very quickly at all. Most of them were down for 3 weeks. Makes me think it may be a virus and not bacterial. I skipped the antibiotics and took Sudafed and I was over the worst of it after the 2nd day. These days, one can only purchase Sudafed from the pharmacist at the pharmacy counter, and signing for it with your blood is required (at least in my state). But if the nasty thing I’ve just described is what you have, it’s worth the aggravation to sign for the Sudafed. It’ll clear you right up in a jiff!

  19. Bea says:

Prayers for you, Father. What a time to get sick and traveling, too, with so much to do in these last days of Advent.

Prayers please, for my husband. The cancer has not gotten in his bones but at this time the doctor said all they can do is try to stop the spread from occurring any faster.

  20. excalibur says:

I pray for you daily Father Z.

Flying is bad for the health. Perhaps you should ground yourself for a time?

  21. excalibur says:

I recommend Simply Saline, in the winter especially. Dry nasal passages are an invitation to bacteria, viruses, mold. A few sprays a day are enough for me 95% of the time in winter.

I recommend when you feel anything in the throat that indicates possible infection Wellness Throat Spray by Source Naturals.

And did I mention that flying is dangerous to your health?

  22. Netmilsmom says:
