Super Bowl Doritos commercial annoyed big-business abortion NARAL!

Today I am going to buy a bag of Doritos… a small one.  Via one of its Super Bowl commercials Doritos annoyed big-business abortion NARAL.

One of the Doritos commercials featured an ultrasound moment.  Apparently Doritos are so good that Dad is eating them during the viewing of the ultrasound image.  Mom is unimpressed.  Unborn Junior, however, can sense the presence of the Doritos, as if through The Doritos Force and really wants one.  Mind you, the commercial has a crass outcome, as it were.  BUT… the point is… the moving thing in the ultrasound image was, clearly, A BABY.

The death-cult NARAL didn’t like that.  How dare that… thing… that invader by humanized?  Pretty soon women won’t want to have abortions and then what will they do?

Bill Donohue comments on the way the pro-abortion group, NARAL, responded to the Doritos ad that aired during the Super Bowl:

The Doritos ad that showed an ultrasound picture of the baby carried by the baby’s mother was condemned by NARAL for “humanizing the fetus.” It did just that. What else could it have done?

In 2013, Scottish professor Malcolm Nicolson co-authored a book, Imaging and Imagining the Fetus: The Development of Obstetric Ultrasound, published by Johns Hopkins University Press. He noted the “humanizing effect” of ultrasound and the enthusiastic reception it is receiving from pregnant women. In fact, he said, some women report not feeling pregnant until they’ve seen the pictures.

Anti-women feminists such as Allison Benedikt also acknowledge the effects of this technology. In a Salon article in 2012, she lashed out at pregnant women who were sharing pictures of their unborn babies on Facebook. She exclaimed that the more women share these pictures, “the harder it will be to deny that they are people.” She is exactly right: When photos of humans are shared, their humanity is confirmed.

Similarly, in 2007, author Melody Rose published a pro-abortion book wherein she decried the way “recent developments in imaging technique certainly have facilitated a reliance on powerful pictures that humanize the fetus in a way not possible two decades ago.” Imagine how human these humans will look two decades from now!

In 1994, the great English historian Paul Johnson, author of Modern Times, compared abortion to slavery. He noted that advances in medical technology have had a dramatic effect. “The fetus is being humanized,” he said, “just as the slave was humanized.” That’s what worries NARAL.

    Wait, wait?! Fetuses are not human??! No wonder there are so many trillions of abortions! Duh, they are “not human”! And all this time people have been talking about their personhood. I guess that clears everything up…

    I bet every human reading this comment right now was once a fetus. A human fetus. It’s not rocket science, but, the science doesn’t lie — the DNA says, human.

    It has come to my attention that you are less than happy, nay, infuriated by the Doritos commercial because it, ahem, HUMANIZES the fetus. Excuse me, but this is news??? What else could a growing fetus in the womb of a human mother be?
    By your own statement you have betrayed what you have been suppressing all along in your barely functioning conscience: that yes the truth is that humans beget humans from the moment that sperm meets egg and that you stand condemned in the sight of God and humanity for the murders of unborn HUMANS. Lord have mercy…..

    Not so fast because this just seems to be accidently offending pro-abortionists by Doritos. A very deliberate act by them was making rainbow-colored Doritos and donating the proceeds to LGBT propaganda outfits.

    I think you misunderstand me. I’m all for shining a spotlight on the absurdity of pro-abortionists. My point is rather is let no one be under the illusion that pro-lifers have found a friend in Frito-lay because they haven’t. Is that fair enough?

    Their strong response to a rather innocent, apolitical ad is quite telling. It said absolutely nothing about abortion, choice, etc. and they flipped big time. Seems like a diabolical reaction, not unlike having something blessed near a possessed person and they go berzerk.

    Wow. This exposes a GREAT pro-life strategy that doesn’t require protesting in the streets, writing to editors or publicly taking a political stand. Couples who are expecting should be encouraged to simply share their ultrasound photos generously with their family, friends, co-workers and neighbors. They don’t need to make a political statement or any pro-life statement at all – just proudly show off photos of their as yet unborn sons and daughters.

    Which establishes, once again, for the zillionth time, for any who have ears to hear, that Naral & agenda is not about parenthood, it’s not about women’s rights, and it is about despising babies, torturing and attacking them, and killing them, in utero, for profit and strange ideology removed from science and truth.

    Yay for Doritos! They are catering to their future customers. Most of the companies that support abortion are cutting their nose to spite their face. They don’t realize that more babies aborted = less future customers.
    Is it a reality that the majority of workers in the abortion industry are women? If so, why??

    I’m not sure exactly what it is about Doritos and the Superbowl , but it could be a marketing strategy – make a stir and then get your name in the middle of it when everybody is making a fuss. Back in my touring musician days, I knew a few artists (and managers) who were notorious for being. . .well, notorious. They didn’t care whether people were speaking well or ill of them – as long as people were talking about them. So they would deliberately do outrageous things. That was the ploy : Either way, they would become famous (infamous).

    If the commercial even results in one less abortion being performed, that’s awesome. And if NARAL president Ilyse Hogue started flipping like a shrove Tuesday pancake , it’s probably an indicator that an even greater potential is inherent in the commercial.

    But, I’m still not inclined to go and give Doritos a big pat on the back just yet . . .it might result in me getting my hand bitten off.

    For anyone feeling a tinge of amnesia , back in Superbowl 2011 Doritos came out with a commercial “featuring a new Super Bowl advertisement in which a priest, searching for ways to return to the church, has a supposedly brilliant idea: Replacing the host wafer with a Dorito,” (and the precious blood with diet Pepsi.)

    The commercial was never aired : it was part of a contest and didn’t make the final cut. But despite the clamour raised, Frito Lay refused to take it down from their website – and Stephen Colbert, in an ensuing episode of the Colbert Report, treated the whole thing in a way that cannot be commended. It concstitutes scoffing at our Blessed Lord’s presence in the Eucharist.

    I can’t say I remember ever hearing that Doritos had repented or gone to Confession on that one.

    On a personal note, I think I’ll probably continue to adhere to :

    “Do not give to Dorito dogs what is holy.”

    I think RTJL is correct. When my daughter-in-law was expecting her first baby, she and my son gave me a copy of the sonogram. I put it up as my screen saver at work. I was amazed at the younger women in the office who would come by, look at it, and say it looked just like a baby. I think it is a lot easier to abort a baby if you think it is just a clump of cells, even though all humans are really just clumps of cells.

    Interestingly, as bizarre, extreme, irrational, angry and discouraging as these NARAL sentiments are, it is well for us to go on to the next step in the consideration of this: NARAL is the premiere lobby for our currently sitting president, for his vp, for the two still running candidates for Democratic nomination and now perhaps a billionaire independent, practically all federal and state legislators and executive office from my state, the empire state…and others…and they all want you to believe that somehow they represent something of moderation. But when you see that what they advocate is nothing less than proposing that every fetus is not human, you understand that our politicians in Washington and a great many of our leaders have been duped and convinced of something inherently irrational, have delivered as much in abortion and pro death policy as one can possibly conceive of at the behest of this bizarre, irrational lobby, and are targeting future generations for slaughter besides all the time. Is this, Naral big abortion, really the kind of “lobby”, based upon greed and hatred of mothers, women, children that we want to control our government??!

    NARAL has long invoked the rhetoric of free speech, democracy, and personal conscience, etc. in demanding that the Catholic Church abandon its teaching on abortion and the human rights of unborn children.

    Yet anytime pro-lifers exercise their own rights (we don’t even know if the Doritos ad intended a pro-life message) of free speech and press, NARAL and other pro-abortionists get upset. In the early 1990s, they wanted to get the pro-life ads (“Life: What a Beautiful Choice”) paid for by the DeMoss Foundation off the air. NARAL took out an ad in the NY Times after learning that the US Conference of Catholic Bishops hired Hill and Knowlton, a public relations firm, to help craft a more effective pro-life message.

    When most pro-abortionists demand respect for free speech, etc., they just want it for their side.

    Everyone who supports NARAL should remember this kerfuffle: NARAL was clearly criticizing the mothers of those Super Bowl babies for choosing to have them. In NARAL’s eyes, the mothers were either wrong for choosing to become pregnant, or they were wrong for choosing not to abort them. There is no other explanation for that tweet.

    NARAL is a loathsome, despicable and demonic group of death cultists.

    “humanize the fetus” ah yes, fetus, the lynchpin of the pro abort argument. Want to get a pro aborts undivided attention? Tell them that you agree with the term fetus and then give them the medical/scientific/generally accepted definition of it. Fetus- a developing human (every medical dictionary has this exact wording) Most of these people, not all, have no idea what the party line their spouting even means. It is a most fascinating thing to watch a pro abort simply short circuit and come to a sputtering halt over that one definition. And while their standing there glassy eyed pull out the list of people who were horn in abject poverty and grew up to make some of the biggest contributions to the civilized world. People like Benjamin Franklin he was #15 of 17 children. John D Rockefeller #2 of 6. Ralph Lauren #5 of 5. Frederick Douglass one of 7. The list could go on for miles.

    It may be possible to dupe a man on this issue, especially one without children, but for goodness sake, how do you dupe a mother? How can a mother look straight at a camera or an audience and declare she considers abortion “sacred” or say “fetus” instead of “child” without remembering her own “fetuses” (fetii?)?

    Tuesday there was a LOT of talk on Facebook about the commercial, and how the anti-life crowd was screaming bloody murder over the fact that a late term ultrasound does show a fully formed baby just waiting to be born, and how we ought to buy Doritos because we liked the commercial, with the usual comments about diets, and well, buy some and give them to someone who can eat them. Yet really most of the time Facebook is all talk.

    SO I said why don’t we DO something? Buy Doritos, AND stuff that is on the list that your local food pantry keeps on their web page, then take it down to the Food Pantry and donate it. Doritos Commercial DARE YA!

    And I took my own dare and did it. Read the list from the food pantry web site, and stopped by the grocery and dropped it off just before they locked the last door for the day.

    I don’t know if anyone else did the Doritos Commercial Dare– but one person did. :) It felt good to do something concrete in direct opposition to the anti-life crowd. They attacked a food product company for a life affirming advertisement, so it seemed quite appropriate to donate to a food bank. And I told them why.
