Your Good News

Do you have some good news to share with the readership?

We probably all need it as an inoculation to what will go on on US TV this week.

For my part, I’m heading off to the annual Canon Law conference held by Card. Burke.  I’m sure I’ll see again lots of great people.

Since where the conference is held is – or was for the last few years – in a mobile deadspot except for a few choice places, I’ll take my KeepGo with me.  It is pretty sensitive and it has a good connection range.  Maybe will be able to create a wifi hotspot.  For you road-warriors out there, I wrote about KeepGo HERE.  This gizmo will save me a lot of money especially when I head overseas.

UPDATE: I tested my KeepGo again before packing.  It did NOT connect.  I guess it doesn’t work in these USA after all – odd. Because I got it to work before.

I’ll also take along a copy of Card. Burke’s new book, which I will ask him to inscribe. Hope for the World: To Unite All Things in Christ  (UK HERE)

  2. un-ionized says:

I am walking much better and went up a flight of stairs last week. Feeling better too, generally. Praying sure helps.

  3. Leslee says:

Our son will be celebrating the Sacrament of Matrimony on Friday 29th with a full nuptial mass. Two days later we celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary.

  4. HighMass says:

We pray to God to have a next Pope like Cardinal Burke or Cardinal Sarah

Our son was accepted as a seminarian!

  6. Traductora says:

Just wanted to say I bought a KeepGo upon your earlier recommendation and took in to England for a couple of weeks. I loved it and today it’s leaving for the Camino de Santiago with me.

[I’m so glad it worked well for you!]

  7. Mike says:

Several day-job projects spinning up nicely (all at once, more or less, so prayers to S. Joseph the Worker that I don’t drop too many balls).

Good week in Chicago including visits to both the Shrine of Christ the King and St. John Cantius.

Excellent weekend in NYC area. Met friend safely returned from overseas travel, attended the annual TLM pilgrimage at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in East Harlem, and helped give a rousing sendoff to Canon Moreau ICRSS as he departs on his mission to Mauritius. May God bless everyone who promised to pray for our growing TLM apostolates in the national capital region.

“This is the time of those who have the heart and the time for prayer.” Fr. Jozo Zovko, Medjugorje http://ingodscompany2.blogspot.com/2016/07/this-is-time-of-those-who-have-heart.html

  9. einkleinerknabe says:

Our pastor recently announced that beginning the first Sunday of Advent, the noon mass will be celebrated in Latin, alternating between the Ordinary and Extraordinary Forms. The other two weekend masses will continue in English. All masses will be celebrated ad orientem.
This will return the TLM to our diocese.

Yesterday, my choir (Musica Sacra of Mobile, Alabama) sang A Litany of Mercy in Procession, Solemn Vespers, and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament in St. Joseph’s Chapel, Spring Hill College (Jesuit!), with all the traditional and reverent ceremonies. The occasion was to celebrate the Jubilee of Mercy. Confessions were heard before. The church was full. A beautiful and prayerful afternoon. A Methodist bishop attended because someone invited to him. I said to him, “This is old- time Catholic worship. Was it too Catholic for you?” “It was just what I needed,” he responded. (Allegri’s Miserere and Faure’s Cantique were included.)

The Celebrant (not a Jesuit) gave a wonderful sermon on God’s infinite mercy, but reminded us that mercy sometimes includes ‘hard things’ and that we must never compromise, in the name of mercy, the eternal and unchanging truths that the Church proclaims.

  11. benedetta says:

I have some great news, for once!

  12. MrsMacD says:

    Good news;
Imminent conversion of a Russian Orthodox friend we’ve been praying for for years.
Brother to be married this week to a lovely lady.

  13. Blaine says:

My second child, a baby girl was just born on Saturday. Katherine Elise. She was a bit early and quite small, and has been in the NICU for a bit due to low blood sugar readings, but is progressing. Nicely and looks to be ready to go home in a day or two. Mom is healthy too.
I can’t thank God enough for His blessing on our family.

  14. un-ionized says:

    benedetta, Hooray!

  15. JonPatrick says:

At a certain town in Eastern Maine where we have a 2nd home, the child-of-the-60’s priest who used to ad-lib during Masses and use pottery communion vessels has finally retired and has been replaced by a more orthodox priest who brought back metal vessels, and does the red and says the black or often sings it in a wonderful singing voice. Brick by brick.

  16. JonPatrick says:

Also I have signed up for the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting course, and my wife is also planning to do the course also.

  17. Nan says:

My sister, who was recently diagnosed with stage IV cancer is out of ICU. They don’t know the cause of the infection but it it’s responding to the antibiotics. Her pain is being managed much better now. She starts chemo next week.

  18. Filipino Catholic says:

I managed to learn how to chant most of Credo III over the week, still polishing up in some parts. Credo I is also on the to-learn list. Good news in that regards, mother and sister seem to have gotten amenable to repeatedly going to EF Masses.

  19. un-ionized says:

Jon Patrick, you can’t go wrong with an NRA course, their instructor certification process is second to none.

  20. Blaine says:

Just an update – we are home and baby Katherine is doing wonderful. Her mother and I got a little sleep. Her big brother is being such a big helper. All is good!

  21. HeatherPA says:

Thanks be to God our little baby boy was born today perfect and whole. He is so precious. Thanks for all the prayers, everyone!
