“If you still attend the Novus Ordo, murmur ‘Ganganelli’ as you exchange the Grope of Peace.”

The inimitable Fr. Hunwicke, who feverishly awaits the arrival of his new Clement XIV Ganganelli drinkware which I have sent with my compliments, has this to say over at his indispensible blog Mutual Enrichment:

Have you got your spectacular Clement XIV (Papa Ganganelli) mug from Fr Zed (see his blog)? Every Catholic of real ‘Discernment’ should have one! Offering guests their coffee in a Clement XIV mug will become a sort of secret ‘quasi-masonic’ way of Discerning who is ‘sound’. (Another method, if you still attend the Novus Ordo, would be to murmur ‘Ganganelli’ as you exchange the Grope of Peace.)

Wanna mug?  Wanna give a mug?

I hope soon to add some wear-ware.

    Santo Subito Clemens XIV “Ganganelli”

  2. RichR says:

I don’t get the connection. Please enlighten us.

  3. Prayerful says:

This Pope was cultured, admired for his culture, and politically nimble and mostly got rid of the Jesuits who afflict good Catholics. One day it will happen, and it will be done properly this time.

  4. Prayerful says:

I ordered a stein, to hold a drink to celebrate the end of the Jesuits, when it comes, and to drink to forget what they utter in the meantime.

  5. walk by faith says:

This is bad, i know: eliciting a *loud* snort in a cube farm (of sorts) at the phrase, “Grope of Peace”. Thank you, Father—that’s a gem.

  6. walk by faith says:

ooops, mea culpa. Credits to Fr. Hunwicke for naming the beast. And yet of course to you for sharing the post.

  7. joekstl says:

The suppression of the Jesuits was more due to political issues than to theological concerns – the latter of which is the focus of this blog’s critique of some of today’s Jesuits.

If you want to see what central Rome authority can do to destroy good Jesuit mission work just look at the Dominican and Spanish Franciscan successful efforts to undermine Matteo Ricci and the Jesuits in China. Our Church never recovered.

  8. I used to think I wanted the next Pope to take the regnal name Pius; but upon further reflection, maybe what I really want is Clement. Or, since we have introduced the practice of two regnal names, how about Clement Pius? And his motto would be, “Playtime Is Over.”
