Something light for Friday

Because it’s Friday, and because we have all had terrible news all week, here’s what I consider to be one of the five funniest Bugs Bunny cartoons.

One of my favorite lines is contained herein.

And watch the hooves when the bull really takes off and the little surprise beams that shoot out of his head on the hill. Comedy gold, folks.

I’ll add that I have been to the bullfights in Madrid and look forward to going again. So there.

Bless you, Father. What marvelous imagination that developed the story line! That was delightful and a nice reminder of my steady diet of Bugs Bunny cartoons of my childhood. I’m surprised that cartoon (actually the series) hasn’t been banned by the faux-Puritans of Outrage and Offended Virtue-signalling (dis)Order of our times, what with all the guns and violence and racism stuff. LOL!

    Tonight comedy!
Yes, i like. But…favorite lines, “stop steam’n up my tail, whata ‘ya try’n to do wrinkle it?” Maybe? Now how many kids would get the two billiards references and also i have always wondered what those oblong, notched things that trail the bull as he begets his charge. Never could figure those things out.

About those “…little surprise beans that shoot out of his head on the hill…”

I kept looking for tiny images of Max Faggioli but could not find them. Can you help out?

    [Calami lapsus. “beams”]

    Hmmmmmmm… could it be either:
“Of course, you know, this means war!”

    or

    “What a maroon.”

    ???

[I had in mind “war”, but the other is a real contender.]

Lo-o-o-ve me some Bugs Bunny. I have never moved passed my delight in those cartoon. So many good ones to choose from. “Welcome to my shop, Let me cut your mop, d-a-i-n-ti-ly, d-a-i-n-ti-ly. . . “, Or “Kill the Wabbit, Kill the Wabbit, Kill the Wabbit–With my Magic Helmet, With my Magic Helmet, etc.” Our introduction to opera. Thanks for the few minutes of fun, and reminding us there was a more lighthearted time in our nation’s culture when virtue signallers weren’t offended at everything all the time.

“I knew I shoulda made that left toin at Albe-coy-kee.”

Thanks Fr Z, for reminding me of one of my favorite cartoons from my favorite wascally wabbit!

  7. surritter says:

Sorry GHP, but my vote has to go to veritas vincit!
Can’t help but laugh out loud whenever Bugs gives his “Albuquerque” line. I want to think that Fr. Z agrees :)

That is just so loaded with Americanisms, holy cow. Oh, there’s another one.
There are zillions of great Bugs, two of the best in my opinion are the ones where Bugs is a caller at a square dance with hillbillies, hilarious, and the other one is when there is a tiny gangster in the episode, who sees curtains and says “Oh, they’re adorable!”. Looney Tunes are so great. Foghorn Leghorn was another really funny one. These are all still worth watching! In fact, we need them more now than we did then.
Our house is totally immersed in 60’s TV which is far, far better than current junk.

    GASP!!!
…lays down in a fetal position in his safe space…

Whenever my husband and I get lost in the car (we are in our mid-70s), we look at each other and say, “I shouldda turned left at Albuquerque.” And just LAUGH!!

  12. hilltop says:

So many folks’ appreciation for classical music comes from Bugs.
When listening to a famous piece on the radio, my wife will storm into the room and tell me what Bugs, or Elmer were doing just then. Play-by-play!
    Thanks Father, and…..
    So long, Folks!

    What a gullibull!

    What a nimcowpoop!

  14. Grant M says:

“Bullfight” is a bit of a misnomer, as the bulls do not actually fight each other. I’ve never seen a Spanish bullfight, but I have seen a Minangkabau bullfight, with two Minangkabau bulls (water buffalo) going mano a mano, or in this case cornu ad cornu. (cuerno a cuerno?)

  15. Chuck4247 says:

This is solid gold. I think my favorite might be Hillbilly Hare, but this I agree that this is up there.
