Archbp. Gabriel Montalvo: RIP

Please remember in your prayers to pray for the repose of the soul of Gabriel Montalvo, the former papal Nuncio to the United States. His Excellency lived in our residence in Rome after he retired from his duties in the USA. I remember him kindly. We had many good conversations together.

Only the second representative of the Vatican to the U.S. not raised to the Cardinalate. However, certainly Montalvo deserved it and likely would have gotten the red hat had his health been better, unlike the previous representative who remains an archbishop and who was responsible for a number of the episcopal problems of the last quarter-century.

May Archbishop Montalvo rest in peace.

You will note, re: the illustrious Abp. Jadot, that he was the principal consecrator of both Abp. Robert Sanchez of San Antonio (resigned) and Abp. Rembert Weakland (no intro. needed).

What in the world was Pope Paul VI doing?

Abp. Robert Sanchez of Santa Fe, NM.

    You’re right, Mila. My mistake.
