Not much to report today

Today was passed in reading, writing, having a cameo on Bill Bennett’s radio show, writing more and then meeting some friends who are in town from the USA. I showed them a few churches. Here is an okay shot of a lovely side chapel in Santa Maria sopra Minerva.

Wouldn’t most people give a limb to have a nice place like that to pray in? Of course right next to it is the tomb of St. Catherine of Siena, the tombs of two Popes, including Leo X who excommunicated Martin Luther (Exsurge Domine!!), a statue of the risen Christ by Michelangelo and the tomb of Bl. Angelico, the painter.

We strolled around and wound up at a decent place I know near the Pantheon for a good meal and a fine bottle with some amaro afterward. The seven year old who was present made sure that, I am not making this up, we got Chateaubriand and not Dom Perignon. She also very properly asked for some lemon for her cut of the beef.

Even the happy little elephant was sad that it was all gone. So, I made sure the folks got some gelato and then off they went to sleep.
