Cristero, nice work on the Blog. It is very edifying to see all of these developments at the Mission during the past few months — God’s grace is at work. Also, a huge thanks to Frs. Milich and Fitz-Henry as well as the Mission staff and all of the good will in the Parish community.
Cristero:
It is just amazing to see the work you and others in the Diocese of Monterey are doing to propagate the Mass in the EF in that diocese. Just beautiful.
It seems like yesterday that there was such heated opposition there to all things traditional, and now the gorgeous San Juan Bautista Mission Church is hearing the Sanctus bounce off the walls. It must be like a dream to be there and witness it all.
Blessed Juniper Serra must be smiling down from heaven to see this progress of the restoration in his former mission territory.
The Monterey diocese is arguably the most breathtaking in the USA for its physical beauty and stunning Pacific Ocean coastline stretching for hundreds of miles. Now spiritual and ineffable beauty is returning as the faithful there can experience the liturgy first brought by the Franciscans 300 years ago.
Congratulations to the faithful in the diocese of Monterey. Obviously the pastoral care has increased greatly since the installation of Bishop Garcia. It should be pointed out that at his installation there were two priests in attendance, unfamiliar to most in the diocese. They were priests of the Fraternity of St. Peter from St. Stephen’s Sacramento. As the Sacramento auxiliary, Bp. Garcia and Bp. Weigand were very supportive of traditional Catholics. Upon his arrival in Monterrey, Bp. Garcia, exercising great pastoral care, initiated three Extraordinary Form Masses through the diocese. All readers of this blog should thank almighty God for a faithful servant like Bishop Garcia. Not every diocese is blessed like Monterey currently is. California needs more bishops like Bp. Garcia. Brick by brick.
