Perhaps we could all purchase copies for Mrs. Pelosi and Mr. Biden.
Seriously, I will be getting a copy of this book.
And, Chaput’s book has surpassed Senator Biden’s book on the bestseller’s list. Just another lesson of “Truth always prevails.”

Just his prose is worth the price of the book. Truth AND pleasing prose together are cheap at any price!
Just more talk.
Does the book contain a mea culpa for parish priest Chaput’s campaigning for Carter? Or his nonsense re illegal immigration? Or an admission that one can be a faithful Catholic and think that capital punishment is moral and appropriate in today’s America? ‘Cause that’s the political book by Chaput that I’d buy. During my formative years in the 80s I listened every Sunday to Catholic priests trying to drive my saintly father out of the Church. It would be nice if someone addressed this. I mean, CARTER!?! As if he were okay, but for the whole abortion thingy, which we just didn’t realize at the time. How is that any different than Kmiec’s silliness?
Mark R. Crovelli, writing for the Ludwig von Mises Institute wrote a review on Chaput’s book entitled “What Belongs to Caesar?”, URL: http://mises.org/story/3081
He does have a point. While it may be right to render unto Caesar, is it right for Caesar to claim everything as his or for us to go along with that?
Any thoughts?
This book is well-written and thought-provoking.

I don’t know, but he talks about it in his May 2008 column here:

It is incumbent upon we who regular comment on this and the other fine orthodox Catholic blogs to read this book and share it with our brethren. I find it no surprise that this superb analysis, by the bishop who is probably the most beloved among the American faithful, has reached the NYT best seller list. Truth always creates its own audience.
Jordanes, that article, and others I’ve read, only addresses the abortion issue. Bad enough that he got that wrong, but that’s not my point. Let’s put the whole abortion thing aside. (And I can say that because my side is the one that got that issue right.) Liberal Democrat Catholic priests have been marginalizing conservative Republican parishioners for decades. Our bishops seem finally to be willing to speak out about abortion. When will they get around to speaking out about the policies that, eg, have destroyed the black family? They’re still claiming that these policies are more in tune with Catholic teaching than are the policies of us evil right-wingers.
I called three Catholic bookstores trying to get it and none of them has it. They were like, “what book?”
I explained it was on the NY Times best seller list, probably thanks to Amazon and other online sources. Are bookstares like Barnes & Noble featuring the book in their physical storerooms?
Call book stores and ask them to carry it. I don’t know if that makes sales go up with merchants buy it for resale.
Does anyone know what the NYT Best Seller list is based on? Where do they get their figures?
I can say with confidence that my parish’s small religious goods store will NOT be caring this book. HOWEVER, we have a whole display for Bp. Geoffrey Robinson’s screed.
The local Borders is sold out.
Ordered this from Amazon.com over the weekend. Just received notice that it was shipped today.
