I never thought Fr Peffley had an interest in the Traditional Latin Mass. How wonderful that I have been proven wrong! Now if only you could marry his love of the Legion of Mary with the Traditional Latin Mass…what an astonishing organization you would have!
With prayer, the TLM will spread out to our little rural parishes too! Brick by brick, eh Father?
I’m simply in awe of the Diocese of Arlington, VA and even a little envious! I’m just happy that I live close enough to defect there on most Sundays.
As orthodox as he is, I don’t believe that Fr. Peffley, the Pastor, personally has much of an interest in the Extraordinary Form, but he has been extraordinarily (no pun intended) accomodating for those in his parish who do.
HT had its first high Mass in the EF on Christmas, and has a new schola. They have eight altar boys trained in the EF and another group beginning training. (The parish as a whole has more than 150 altar boys! Quite a testament to the example the priests set.)
On the other hand, HT has a monthly Holy Hour with Praise and Worship music.
There is a big Christendom college influence there, but also a big Steubenville influence.
In other words, everything at HT is very orthodox, but there is a wide variance in how that orthodoxy plays out.
Brick by brick.

I am pleased to announce that there will also be a Mass, probably sung, of the Feast of the Epiphany on Tuesday, 6th January, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Victoria, B.C., Canada. Fr. Alexander MacLellan, who is truly a holy priest, has been our celebrant since Easter and has agreed to offer Mass for us for the six holydays of obligation which were in force in Canada in 1962. These include the Epiphany (a holyday in Canada but not the U.S.A.). He also celebrates the Traditional Rite of Mass for us every Sunday and for some extra feasts which fall on Mondays. This year, he celebrates a Gregorian Mass on Easter Monday, the Feast of the Nativity of our Lady, and on All Souls’ Day. Thank you, Fr. MacLellan, for agreeing to this and for putting up with contrarians and complainers such as I.

This is awesome! Father Peffley brought me into the Church after I couldn’t suffer through the RCIA program back home in Florida. He is an amazing priest and they have an absolutely beautiful church, just built! I wish I could be there.

Well if Father Peffley isn’t personally interested in the EF, he still sounds like one heck of a great pastor to take care of the spiritual needs of the whole flock. I’m jealous, but in the nicest possible way. Tom
I just took a peek at the Holy Trinity Parish website and was delighted to note the simplicity of their parish “mission statement” – “The mission of Holy Trinity Church is to lead all parishioners to Heaven and the Beatific Vision of the Blessed Trinity.”
As a parishioner at Holy Trinity, I can vouch for the fact that Fr. Peffley has been wonderful about accommodating the desire for the TLM, whether or not he has a personal interest in it himself. Before the TLM was introduced early this year, Fr. Wooten conducted a series of classes to familiarize those of us who had never attended a Latin mass with what we could expect. Initially the mass was offered at 12:30 on the first and third Sundays of the month — now it is offered every Sunday at 12:30 (and was offered on Christmas as well)! As someone who grew up as a mostly lukewarm Catholic in the Richmond diocese, I consider myself quite lucky to have ended up at Holy Trinity with such wonderful and orthodox priests, where I continue to learn about our faith.
Father Peffley is single-handedly keeping the Legion of Mary alive in the United States.
I’m proud to say that one of the seminarians involved in the EF Mass at Holy Trinity is my nephew. Way to go boys!
Father Wooten had been an assistant pastor at his parish when he was young. Besides my nephew’s good parents, its amazing what long-term effects a good priest can have on the youth, huh?
