We could have used her at Lepanto. Though they did a pretty good job without her.
Nice,
Let’s pray she does not see much action and is only ever used in a “Just War” never against civilians.
God Speed
This seems like a case of “beating plowshares into swords.”

Fair point, although from a Catholic perspective I’m not 100% convinced about the statement… “At the World Trade Center, the peace of the free market improved the lives of people daily”.
Expanding Markets and the pursuit of profit have been known to be the root of some war and poverty too.
Tom A-hey, this would have kicked serious butt at Lepanto!
‘Strength through Sacrifice-Never Forget’ [motto of the USS New York]
Part of me wants to see this ship in action against al Qaeda. That, however, would be the jerk in me!
Yeah me too, it’s just a shame Afghanistan is land locked and hundreds of miles from the coast.
The thing that makes me a little sad is that all the northerners seem to forget that this beautiful and powerful ship was made in the South. She (the USS New York)) was put together down here in New Orleans, so she is made with the strength of the southern spirit…:) May she lead many to a just victory.
“In hoc signo vinces” Under the “sign” of USS New York, may she conquer her enemies. And under the sign of Our Dear Savior’s cross may we conquer our enemy, sin and death.
O Lord, save your people and bless your inheritance.
Grant victory to our country over its enemies,
and preserve your community by the power of your Cross.
(Apolytikion of the Holy Cross)
It just occurred to me that we had a much more powerful weapon at Lepanto than the USS New York. We had the Rosary.
I was able to visit her yesterday. Her main purpose is to transport Marines and she does have a mission after the festivities are over in New York. The name is for the state of New York, not the city.
To blognic ot not to blognic? Haven’t heard any details about a proposed blognic since the post s couple of weeks ago.
