Prayer Before Using The Internet HERE
Almighty and eternal God, who created us in Thine image and bade us to seek after all that is good, true and beautiful, especially in the divine person of Thine Only-begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, grant, we beseech Thee, that, through the intercession of Saint Isidore, Bishop and Doctor, during our journeys through the internet we will direct our hands and eyes only to that which is pleasing to Thee and treat with charity and patience all those souls whom we encounter. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

That looks like where my dear aunt and uncle used to live. Living in tornado territory myself, I hope they have some kind of shelter for expected hurricanes the way mobile home estates are supposed to here for tornado alerts. Of course that assumes people can and will be able to use them. Clouds from Isaac precluded seeing the blue moon here.
Father, have you moved? This does not look like the Sabine Farm. Palmettos?
[I had a “window of opportunity” to visit my mother in Florida where such palms seem to be rather common.]
My husband and I know the feeling Father. He stood at our door watching a tornado form not far from us, and it headed right for us. Fortunately it curved away, but 100+ homes were destroyed in our community just behind us. Yet not even our garbage can blew. We grabbed our baby, knelt down, and watched it approach, as we were in a trailer, and had nowhere to go. So, we just started praying. God took care of us. The devastation was terrible, though. Glad you are all right.
(N.B. the story above happened 15 years ago.)
“The noise of His thunder shall strike the earth, so doth the northern storm, and the whirlwind… At His word, the wind is still….” Sirach 43:18, 25.
Sooner or later, the real story of what happened in Florida will come to light.
The world’s most famous ordained unreconstructed ossified manualist stood in front of the approaching tornado. With his left hand, he held down his biretta, and with his right hand he held aloft a silver crucifix, and commanded the tornado to dissipate. He would have done so sooner, but he was having Internet problems.
Charles E Flynn: So, you were here? And I didn’t even know.
Fr Z., you have a mom? I thought you came out of the forehead of Zeus fully armoured and mature!
Why, even Father Lonergan had a mother!
Jon said: “Why, even Father Lonergan had a mother!”
“What did ya expect????” (LOL….my favorite movie)
Supertradmum-Ha! I loved your comment! Ditto yours, Charles E Flynn!
Seriously, though: I’m glad that you and your mom escaped the tornado, Father Z!
Wish there was some way for mobile homes to withstand tornado-force winds-they are certainly NOT the kind of buildings to to hold up! They are always the first ones to be destroyed!
