I am in Grand Rapids, MI for the annual gathering of Acton University, several days of lectures and presentations on many topics. People of various faiths come from all over the world for this. When I picked up my registration pack, I already saw familiar faces.
The hash tag is #ActonU if you are interested in tweets from participants. We have quite a lineup this year.
You will also be pleased to know that Masses in the mornings are offered in both forms of the Roman Rite. We are free and, hopefully, virtuous.
UPDATE
I think there are over 800 here tonight.
I am meeting lots of people who read the blog!
UPDATE
There are here 1043 participants from 63 nations!
Sam Gregg is giving the 5 Rules of Engagement.
Fr Robert Sirico is giving tonight’s address.
Whenever I go to events like this I always seem to get the “long line” for registration! I blame my parents.
Now Fr. Z, you probably have no wait to register.
acardnal, those long lines give time to recite the Litany of Huimility.
Repeatedly.
I haven’t seen Fr. Sirico on Raymond Arroyo’s “The World Over” for a long time! What’s up with that?
Welcome to our city, Father! Our Parish is St Isidore’s, just up the hill from you.
I flew in to Grand Rapids this morning, had no idea the Great Fr. Z was near!
I walked by an Acton booth in the airport. The guy at the both was texting like a zombie. I held back the urge to tell him he looked like a democrat. :D
@acardnal: That’s where I was first introduced to Fr. Sirico. I remember him talking about subsidiarity a long time ago before anyone else this side of the Atlantic appeared to be. Doesn’t look like he’s been on for a little while; you’re right. Hmm.
Neil Cavuto did have Fr. Sirico on Fox News when Pope Francis was elected.
Wish I was there with you. The Acton U is an event everyone should attend at least once in your life. You will see the world and the faith differently when you leave… improved.
