Fr Dana Christensen: R.I.P.

At last Fr. Dana Christensen as gone to God.  His was one of the more of more heroic struggles against the effects of Original Sin that I’ve encountered.

In your goodness, please pray for him.

We are praying for his soul. Fr. Christensen, please pray for us too.

  2. Father’s post-diagnosis interview with Taylor Marshall was probably the most edifying thing I saw that whole year.

Fr. Christensen told me some years ago that this is one of his favorites.

Fr. Christensen will always remain in my prayers. His heroism, though practically unnoticed on earth, is surely going to be crowned with spectacular rejoicing in Heaven. I will ask for his prayers now!

  8. Facta Non Verba says:

I personally knew Fr. Christensen. He was a newly ordained deacon at my father’s funeral. His blog, way back in the day, is what led me to Father Z’s blog; and from there, many blessings.

  9. CasaSanBruno says:

    Requiescat in pace.

  10. I got to meet Father via Facebook when I still did that. I have been praying for him ever since I heard his diagnosis. May God rest his soul.

  11. The Father never leaves us without examples to follow…from the prophets, His Son, the saints…if we only have eyes to see. Fr. Christensen, like St. John-Paul II oof recent memory, not only showed us how to accept the crosses we’re given, but how to joyfully live in the shadow.

  12. Mariana2 says:

    May he rest in peace.

  13. Padre Pio Devotee says:

Holy Infant Jesus, have mercy. Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for Fr. Christensen. St. Joseph, Patron of the Dying, pray and protect Fr. Christensen.

  14. Kathleen10 says:

Fr. Dana already helped us, even when he was still here. When we had Covid, we thought of him and his courage. It helped us not to be so whiny.
What a good priest and quite a man. We thank the Lord for his life and great example. Father Dana may do even more now. We’re sad he’s gone, but it’s lovely he’s free as a bird. God be with his family.

  15. ajf1984 says:

Fr. Christensen was one of the priests at our wedding in Sioux Falls many years ago, and five of my six boys were baptized by Fr. Christensen. When it came time for our sixth to be baptized and Father was unable to do it because of the ALS, we brought the young lad to our local Institute parish for baptism in the Extraordinary Form in honor of Fr. Dana. It was always Fr.’s desire to baptize in the Extraordinary Form, but due to…reasons (that in retrospect seem paper-thin)…we never went down that road with the five older boys. His earthly presence and ministry will be sorely missed, but his continued ministry in the sight of the Angels and Saints on high will do even more good now that he has gone to the Father.

For those who have not seen the update on Fr.’s funeral Mass, I reproduce here (begging permission from our host!) the link to his obituary which will also have the livestreamed Solemn High Requiem Mass, which takes place this Thursday, 19 May 2022 at 3:00PM Central Time:
