Daily Rome Shot 753

White to move.  Mate in two.

NB: I’ll hold comments with solutions ’till the next day so there won’t be “spoilers” for others.

Please remember me when shopping online. Thanks in advance. US HERE – UK HERE  These links take you to a generic “catholic” search in Amazon, but, once in and browsing or searching, Amazon remembers that you used my link and I get the credit.

  1. Ave Maria says:

That is not a daily Rome shot! That is the back of the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse, Wisconsin. I have been there many times and taken that same picture.

  2. DCLex says:

Only the Rook prevents White Knight from ending the game. So attack the Rook:

    1. Qf8 forcing RxQ
    2. Ng6++

  3. David L. says:

    1. Qf8 wins. Next is either 2. Qg7# or if 1. … Rxf8 2. Nxg6#.

  4. VForr says:

Lovely photo! What is this church’s name?

  5. Front Pew View says:

These last couple of “Rome” shots look an awful lot like La Crosse, Wisconsin!

  6. anj says:

    Qf8
    If RxQ then Nxp#
    If Rf7, then NxR#
    If anything else then Qg7#
