The other Voltaire quote, of course, is his deathbed response to the priest’s question did he renounce satan and all his works, to which he replied, “Of course not, this is no time to be making new enemies.”
I don’t think this is anything to be concerned about (more than the usual concern we should have with this papacy). It is typical that he meets with the pope around this time before he returns to the US from his vacation in France and his meetings with the Secretary of State and other diplomats.
