From during my last Roman Sojourn… not turkey, but at least it’s poultry.
And, true “thanksgiving”, though in a muted mode. It heralds a Requiem I’ll say today.
Speaking of Requiems, you might in your goodness, please pray for the soul of this priest who committed suicide. I recommend him to the intercession of St. Joseph, to the Queen of Priests, and to the High Priest Himself who will know what truly was going on in his heart and mind in the irreversible moment. May God have mercy.
Please pray for the repose of the soul of Fr. Dennis Conway, who committed suicide yesterday. He was pastor of Immaculate Conception Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He according to the post below, he said the Traditional Latin Mass. We should keep our priest in our prayers… https://t.co/AnBC7EZnCR pic.twitter.com/tz4171dqfR

Not to be too much of a downer today, I am reminded of all the good Fr. Martins has done, how many have benefited from his apostolate, and that the Enemy is constantly at work to bring down those who are effective.
This…
One of the great gifts of our country’s justice system is that you are innocent until proven otherwise. I am greatly grieved when a good man, in this case also a faithful priest, Fr. Carlos Martins has his name and reputation harmed by allegations that have not only been… pic.twitter.com/QIImfso7ir

Here is someone I miss. I am grateful that we had him for as long as we did. What a lasting impact. R.I.P.

White to move and mate in 4.
UPDATE:
This is nifty…
A very happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate!
Did you know, in Númenor, the people conducted annually Three Prayers – ceremonies in praise of Eru. The last of these was “Eruhantalë” or “Thanksgiving to Eru”, which took place at the end of Autumn.

White to move and mate in 4.
[NB: I’ll hold comments with solutions ’till the next day so there won’t be “spoilers” for others.]
Sorry, but the whole ‘controversy’ sickens me. It was something totally blown out of proportion, and something reasonable people would have blown off, or at most asked for an apology. The parents overreacted, and IMO the Bishop reacted poorly. Now, Fr. has a sullied reputation and good luck in getting that back.
I was at the Relics Mass a day or two before the episode. I found Fr’s sense of humor (in the homily) not to my personal liking, but when I found out the facts, I thought the whole matter absurd. Even before I found out the facts, I was skeptical. From what I heard that day he was at our parish, he ran the event like a military operation. I doubt he had any time alone so I doubted whether anything that happened could be that bad. The Bishop never came out and said the allegations weren’t of a sexual nature, which I think he should have.
Mate in 4 makes tactical use of White’s Knights among Black’s pawns. All of Black’s moves are forced, to prevent him from applying check with his Queen:

Fr. Dennis Conway (not Fr. Daniel).
Prayers for the repose of his soul and for all who suffer.
Thanks for mentioning Rush, I truly miss him as well. I discovered him when he hit the Boston market around the time of the first Gulf War and enjoyed his show for over 30y. Working in technology, I’ve had the privilege of working remotely for about 50% of the time over the past 15y, so I was able to listen regularly without “disturbing” my confreres. Like a particularly perspicacious friend or relative, one had to tune-in to find out what he had to say about this or that. A master of satire and ridicule – perhaps the things most hated by the “progressives” – he had a jolly time skewering those who – IMO – deserved it while elevating the process to an art form. He was a profile in courage – and faith in God – during his terminal illness; my only sadness is that we did not hear, in his last days, of his conversion to Catholicism. For years I was sure he was headed in that direction… but then again, none of us were present so who knows? R.I.P.
