“He [Satan] will set up a counter-Church which will be the ape of the Church because, he the devil, is the ape of God. It will have all the notes and characteristics of the Church, but in reverse and emptied of its divine content. It will be a mystical body of the anti-Christ that will in all externals resemble the mystical body of Christ. In desperate need for God, whom he nevertheless refuses to adore, modern man in his loneliness and frustration will hunger more and more for membership in a community that will give him enlargement of purpose, but at the cost of losing himself in some vague collectivity.”
“Who is going to save our Church? Not our bishops, not our priests and religious. It is up to you, the people. You have the minds, the eyes, and the ears to save the Church. Your mission is to see that your priests act like priests, your bishops act like bishops.”
- Fulton Sheen

PLEASE subscribe via PayPal if it is useful. Zelle and Wise are better, but PayPal is convenient.
A monthly subscription donation means I have steady income I can plan on. I put you my list of benefactors for whom I pray and for whom I often say Holy Mass.
In view of the rapidly changing challenges I now face, I would like to add more $10/month subscribers. Will you please help?

"But if, in any layman who is indeed imbued with literature, ignorance of the Latin language, which we can truly call the 'catholic' language, indicates a certain sluggishness in his love toward the Church, how much more fitting it is that each and every cleric should be adequately practiced and skilled in that language!" - Pius XI
"Let us realize that this remark of Cicero (Brutus 37, 140) can be in a certain way referred to [young lay people]: 'It is not so much a matter of distinction to know Latin as it is disgraceful not to know it.'" - St. John Paul II
Grant unto thy Church, we beseech Thee, O merciful God, that She, being gathered together by the Holy Ghost, may be in no wise troubled by attack from her foes. O God, who by sin art offended and by penance pacified, mercifully regard the prayers of Thy people making supplication unto Thee, and turn away the scourges of Thine anger which we deserve for our sins. Almighty and Everlasting God, in whose Hand are the power and the government of every realm: look down upon and help the Christian people that the heathen nations who trust in the fierceness of their own might may be crushed by the power of thine Arm. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end. R. Amen.

Prayer Before Using The Internet HERE
Almighty and eternal God, who created us in Thine image and bade us to seek after all that is good, true and beautiful, especially in the divine person of Thine Only-begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, grant, we beseech Thee, that, through the intercession of Saint Isidore, Bishop and Doctor, during our journeys through the internet we will direct our hands and eyes only to that which is pleasing to Thee and treat with charity and patience all those souls whom we encounter. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Yes. I have the $50 for 50G mobile plans for my camper. It is fantastic. I have worked remotely with a static plan on a farm as well. You will get anywhere from 30M to 70M down and about 10M up.
I hear more than plenty about it, but my only uses have been on a cruise ship (worked really well) and in the T-Mobile Starlink beta with texting. The road to a place where I volunteer has at least 1 dead zone, and I get a text most of the time driving in that zone reminding me that I can text using satellites. I haven’t actually texted with it because the area only takes about a minute to go through.
It is going to be more expensive than most other Internet including the cell carriers own home Internet. Compared to geosynchronous satellite, it blows them out of the water from what I have heard.
We had it at the family cottage in Quebec last year and plan to get it again this summer. Signal is strong which says something considering that getting a good not close to great cell signal is a challenge in that remote part of the country. Pricing (in Canada anyways) is good but we tend to pay more up here for these services than you do in the US. Setup was quite easy too. Hope this helps Fr Z!
Fr. Z,
Been reading daily since CompuServe days. Used an NPO ISP for 10 years and served on its Board of Directors for a year (2 years ago). It served scattered residents in the small, scattered mountain communities here in the Southwest.
We had to use two major trunk lines to maintain services. Weather and tech issues constantly plagued service as it was linked by radio from mountain hardwired sites. Trunk lines were constantly dropping service. One needed a backup service like cell service to maintain some service at times.
Went with Star Link for $120-month total last year. Checking speed test, we get over 250 Mbps downloads constantly, most times 300 range. Uplink around 20 Mbps. Install about 20 minutes. 50% off offers for equipment. Wi-Fi fine although I am mainly use ethernet on 2 TV’s (streaming), 4 computers, Wi-Fi on one tablet, 2 phones. No slowdowns. Ever. When rebooting router (rarely), takes about 5 minutes to get up to speed as it has to find a satellite and link. Weather never an issue, snow hail, etc. If you do not have fiber, it is the only way to go. Just did speed test. 303 Mbps down, 23 Mbps up. Works for us.

PS If location services turned off computer, it uses land base transmitter site as location. Mine is a state away. Browser cookies will store location if desired frequently used sites.
I also have the $50 for 50G plan, and the travel dish. I pause the service when not traveling, which is really nice. Very easy to pause/resume with the app.
It’s amazing out west especially. I frequently travel in MT, lots of cell dead zones. With starlink dish on the dashboard … no dead zones.
It’s not as good in eastern states. I was traveling in NC/VA and there were times when I was told that the grid was at capacity, and at least a few times I had no service.
The travel dish is a great size. I also got a USB-C power cable off of amazon. With a portable power station or a high capacity battery (I have INIU Power Bank, 20000mAh 65W), you can operate off grid. It typically draws between 20 and 40W, so that INIU battery will last for several hours.
We have it and like it a lot. Much faster and reliable than our previous wireless service.
Helpful info here. Thanks.
I used it at a friend’s home in Funchal, Madeira. That is one of the good things about it, the access worldwide. We’re in the process of selling our second home in the Virginia highlands but if not, because access there is expensive and slower than in the Capital area, I would consider subscribing.
I live out in the country and use Starlink.
I cannot recommend it highly enough. Two thumbs-up. Alpha double-plus good. Et cetera, et cetera, and so forth.
I’ve had only a couple of service blips during storms. Speed is great. The Starlink wifi reaches all the way to the barn–a heck of a thing considering the house has a metal roof and stone wall, and the barn is steel.
The main consideration for Starlink: An unobstructed view of the Northern sky. I reckon if you’re in a city around a bunch of buildings or in the midst of a forest, it’s not a great choice.
We have it at the house (PEI, Canada). Works great, but is a tad pricey – $161/mt
I live on a Greek island. There is no broadband except for 5G Internet service delivered by the local operator. StarLink is the only way to get fast Internet. It’s reliable even on stormy days. Hardly any downtime. Cheap too here in Greece: 40 Euros per month.
