A new endeavor: Mom’s Stuff Page – What is it? What’s it worth?
In a nutshell, my late-mother left a boat load of stuff in her house and I simply have to get rid of it. I don’t know for sure, but some things could be valuable. You readers are really good at information from study and life experience. HELP FATHER! HERE
White can mate in 4.

NB: I’ll hold comments with solutions ’till the next day so there won’t be “spoilers” for others.
With a biretta tip to the late Tom Petty.
We have to move on. Time to get going.
What lies ahead I have no way of knowing.
Walking together, unity’s growing
We have to move on, its time to get going.
Broken dialogue with the porn-writing Prefect
the Conciliar points objectors
are tradition protectors
against doctrine defectors
Broken skyline, which way to love land
Which way to something better
Which way to forgiveness
Which way do I go
We have to move on. Time to get going.
What lies ahead I have no way of knowing.
Walking together, unity’s growing
We have to move on, its time to get going.
Sometime later, getting the words wrong
Wasting the meaning and losing the rhyme
Nauseous adrenaline
Like breakin’ up a dogfight
Like a deer in the headlights
Frozen in real time
I’m losing my mind
We have to move on. Time to get going.
What lies ahead I have no way of knowing.
Walking together, unity’s growing
We have to move on, its time to get going.

In Hong Kong the the FIDE Team Rapid is going on. Only two of the world’s top 15 rapid players are not involved (Hikaru and Nepo). These are all star teams. My guy Wesley So is with WR Chess which features a couple other good players, such as Magnus and Fabi. So won drew in Rd 1, drew in Rd 3, won in Rd 4. Team Kazchess is ahead at 4-0. WR is in 5th with 301 tied with many others.

I was very angry when my sister began getting rid of Mom’s clothes, but it had to be done. I guess.
Seven years later, I’m still grieving.
Still a ton of stuff in this house I don’t know what to do with. Knickknacks, mostly, books… mom’s collection of coffee mugs.
I have a lot of stuff of my own that I ought to sort out so nobody has to do it for me later. It’s a huge problem.
If there’s anything worth selling, I suppose you could have an auction house take care of it for you. Personally, I’d rather people take things to remember mom by, and I don’t think I’d get anything out of this stuff that would make selling it feel right.
Peace be with you as you sort through this, father.

Your mom was a gifted artist- she has a great sense of balance and creative flare.
You MUST keep at least one of those mirrors even if they are not to your taste… the rest give to your frenemies ;)
The oriental looking cabinet and elephant mirror box thing look interesting. I’m hoping my comment here inspires someone with more knowledge on that kind of furniture to go check out the “Mom’s Stuff” page and give you more solid information.
When my wife passed, within a month of the burial, I put almost everything left of her stuff in bags and took them to a thrift store several towns over. I just didn’t have the time to go through everything, and I had already set aside the really important things I wanted to pass on to the kids later. Memories I take with me – much of the stuff I can leave behind. And time IS valuable.
Also, another Tom Petty song that comes to mind in the current situation . . . “I Won’t Back Down.”
After family have had their opportunity to take what they want, many folks have estate sales. These occur either at the home and/or at an auction facility. It involves hiring a firm to do this. If you plan on selling the residence, many realtors will help with ideas and workers who will clear out the home for sale. There are also charitable organizations who will come and take large furniture items, clothing, etc.
There is also Craigs List, Ebay, Facebook Marketplace platforms where you can sell stuff but that may be too labor intensive and time consuming for you.
The polished stones on stands are Chinese scholar’s stones, or gongshi. An invaluable desktop contemplation aid for a Daoist scholar.
Here are some findings from my light research, hope it helps a bit.
With Google Lens, I found the exact “rattan elephant pagoda mirror”, as well as some handmade seashell mirrors on circawho.com. The former was sold, so there’s no price, but a couple of similar rattan pagoda mirrors found online are listed between $500 and $800.
I also found similar platform rockers/ebonised stationary rockers/Dexter Rockers (1870s-1920s). These are listed for anywhere below $100 to over $900, I guess depending on condition, the rocking mechanism and upholstering (leather, needlepoint, original vs. re-upholstered, etc.).
Piggybacking off of Clinton’s comment, the rocks seem to be either Chinese gongshi or Japanese suiseki/biseki. I saw these offered by sellers for 20/30/60/80€ a piece.
The polished stones on your Mom’s Stuff Page reminded me of Rev 21:19-20,
And the foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all manner of precious stones.
The first foundation was jasper: the second, sapphire: the third, a chalcedony: the fourth, an emerald: The fifth, sardonyx: the sixth, sardius: the seventh, chrysolite: the eighth, beryl: the ninth, a topaz: the tenth, a chrysoprasus: the eleventh, a jacinth: the twelfth, an amethyst.
I saw Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers perform twice. The band was amazing. Free Fallin was the first dance of my wife and I. I listened to his song “something good coming” quite a bit after the death of my father 16 years ago. Ol Tom and my Dad were both kids from 1951, similar in many ways. It’s a nice song, have a listen, it compels me to want to pray.
I include Tom in our prayers for the dead often.
Eternal Rest.
