The bishop pictured is the bishop of my diocese, at my parish. A solid parish, with a solid pastor, two daily masses, and 24 hour adoration. Bishop William Wack is a good bishop, solid in teaching, good homilist, and effective administrator of a diocese that is still classified as a mission diocese, here in the southern reaches of the Baptist bible belt. The picture was taken in a private setting. I doubt permission was given for its use. And, the world, much less clerics, should take a step back from holding images up to ridicule (and a bishop no less), when there is no context known. I find this type of meme-ry, and its republication, to be both distasteful and crude, as well as lacking in charity. C’mon fathers, we are better than this.

I hate to be that guy….
But “Fr” Martin Navarro is as much a priest as I am(He’s a member of the Old Catholic group), and Bishop Wack is great. My sister lives down there, is a TLM goer, and has nothing but positive things to say about him.
Bishop Wack is vivacious and charming. I’ve rarely met someone so instantly likeable, and I’m not surprised to see people defending his honor. Having said that, he is also pro-illegal immigration and pro-lgbtq. His order hosted a series of meetings in the 70’s on how to get the Catholic laity to defect from the Church’s teachings on artificial birth control. He may be charming, but beware. Even Satan himself can appear as an angel of light.
