YOUR URGENT PRAYER REQUESTS

Please use the sharing buttons!  Thanks!

Registered or not, will you in your charity please take a moment look at the requests and to pray for the people about whom you read?

Continued from THESE.

I get many requests by email asking for prayers. Many requests are heart-achingly grave and urgent.

As long as my blog reaches so many readers in so many places, let’s give each other a hand.  We should support each other in works of mercy.

If you have some prayer requests, feel free to post them below. You have to be registered here to be able to post.

Finally, I have a serious personal petition.

Please pray for my father-in-law, who appears to have had a minor stroke on Saturday. Nothing debilitating, but there are physical and personality changes. We lost my mother-in-law to a massive stroke eight years ago, so we’re a bit anxious.

  2. jmgarciajr says:

I have a serious professional matter “coming to a head” with a client whom I believe also has some mental health issues.

Fr. Z., I’ll offer up my Chaplet for your petition.

and for the perpetrator, as well, he needs prayers, too.

  4. Lucas Whittaker says:

A few months back I requested your prayers for a dear friend of mine who required the intervention of two major spine surgeries (one was to be a total reconstruction). The friend could only bear one surgery and because of that she now faces inevitable paralysis and the loss of other functions that will directly threaten her health and cause impending death. She still needs your prayers as she faces a painful end. That God’s will may be done in her life and that she might keep looking forward to that marvelous life that God in preparing for her as a reward for her great suffering. It is no easy cross to bear and she does need people who will constantly recommend her to God. Please assist me in doing just that. May God reward you!

  5. Jack Hughes says:

I will pray for all the posts here Whilst I am on pilgramage in Prague (Shrine of the Infant Jesus), Can I also ask people to pray for me as I’ve been accepted for Pre-seminary year in the US, conditional on managing to obtain a visa.

  6. Matt8006 says:

I am in urgent need of more stable employment given the fact that my wife is five months pregnant with our first child.

  7. Jeannie_C says:

I will remember all of your prayer requests as I pray today.

PLEASE pray for healing for my friend MaryAnn, mother of 8 children, who has been battling cancer for close to 5 years. Please pray for strength for her husband, Matt. Also, I am begging prayers for a dear priest friend of our family, Fr. Paul, who has been diagnosed with stage 3A colon cancer. Thank you! I will will remember your intentions in my prayers.

Praying for all the above persons and for Father Zed. Please pray for my father, 82 years old and a mocker of religion all his life, he has fallen down some stone steps and has multiple fractures to his head and face.

  11. Indulgentiam says:

I will pray for you all throughout the day. Please pray that I may straighten out a financial matter. I have recently read a very edifying book about suffering. A small 96 page book titled, “Why Must I Suffer” by Rev. F. J. Remler C. M. Loreto Publications. ISBN:1-930278-2
    God bless you all.

  12. e.e. says:

Prayers offered for all of the intentions listed above.

Please continue to pray for us as we seek to adopt an older sibling group. We’ve encountered numerous roadblocks and bureaucracy in the process. We are beginning the process all over again this week and would appreciate prayers for things to go smoothly this time around.

  13. wanda says:

Please pray for my niece’s grandmother. In hospital with a not very good outlook. Heart attack, storke and may need to go on dialysis.

  14. Stephen Matthew says:

For a deacon in seminary who is facing grave illness while awaiting ordination to the priesthood, that God may intervene to restore his health, bring him safely through ordination and his priestly ministry, and he and his family and friends may receive comfort and peace in this time of great trial.

For my grandmother who is experiencing serious declines in her body and mind.

  15. Supertradmum says:

For all those above, and for my sustained health and stamina.

  16. Laura Lea says:

Would you please consider praying for the female inmates in our Catholic ministry at a women’s prison? Some of the inmates convert to the Catholic faith while in prison and one in particular was baptized into the faith 3 years ago. She is desperately trying to change her life and was released to a halfway house with just the clothes on her back. Please pray for God to help her find a way to go to mass and to find support within the local Catholic community.

  17. poohbear says:

A minor issue, but please pray that I will be able to move into the new home I am trying to purchase. I am downsizing tremendously, because I feel that is where God is leading me. He’s getting me unattached from all my stuff. There has been a last minute delay. Was hoping for closing on May 1, but that doesn’t look like it will work out now.

I pray daily for Fr Z’s intentions and the intentions posted here, as well as intentions of readers who are unable to post.

  18. Di says:

    †JMJ†
Please pray for a young man this morning to tried to take his life in the classroom at LaSalle High School in Cincinnati. Please pray for him and his family, that his young man realizes that life is a great gift given to us from GOD and that nothing in this world is worth taking your life.

Lord, through Your sovereign power sheath us in Your armour so that we can resist the snares of the devil. Because it is not against flesh and blood men that we have to fight but against principalities and powers, against the princes of this dark world, against the evil spiritual forces circling all around.
Give us, God the Father, Your armour so that we can be strong in those bad moments and remain steadfast in doing what is expected of us. Give us an alert spirit and strengthen us with the truth.
Protect our bodies with the breastplate of justice; prepare our feet to be ready to go and proclaim the Gospel of peace.
Above all, protect us with the shield of faith so that we may extinguish all the fiery arrows of the evil one. Finally, give us the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit who is Your Word, my GOD.
Dear God I ask this through Christ Your Son our Lord
    Amen!

  19. future_sister says:

Please pray for me as I prepare for my exams. I’m failing two classes I need for my major, but then I think, “do I really need an engineering and a German degree to become a cloistered nun?” Also, prayers for my discernment would be great.

Prayers for as I return home for the summer. There is great strife between my dad, (future) step-mom and I. They are both anti-Catholic. I try not to start arguments, but they start them and won’t allow me to say anything. My step-mom also has serious health problems with lupus, and her back was broken twice, so prayers for her continued healing would be wonderful.

Also a good friend of mine who is preparing to enter seminary, his dad recently had a heart attack. Prayers for him would be much appreciated as well. And a woman I met at Catholic Underground a couple of weeks ago asked me to spread the word that she is looking for prayers for her 18 year old daughter who has fallen away from the faith and has been caught up in a world, of drinking and drugs.

Thank you all for your prayers. And you are all in mine.

  20. For my sister who recently underwent cancer surgery, and for a housing situation to be found soon.

  21. Torpedo1 says:

I’ll pray for all requests, and Fr. Z’s intentions here. Would you please pray for my father’s soul. He is so distant from God and I fear for his salvation. Pray that my anxiety issues lessen soon, and if they don’t, please pray that I am able to bare them with God’s grace. Prayers please that my fiance and I have marriage prep that goes smoothly. I know these are nothing compared to others on this thread, but I’d appreciate it very much.

  22. priests wife says:

Please pray for Joseph- fifth child of a friend. he has Down’s Syndrome and is going through chemo for leukemia. The chemo is going well, but it will be a year long treatment

  23. Gregg the Obscure says:

My wife is ill and the doctors can’t figure out the problem. Also there’s an imminent ethical crisis at work.

  24. I will add all the above prayer requests and Fr. Z.’s request to my rosary intention tomorrow. Future_sister, I can so sympathise with your situation! May the Lord give you the grace of not losing heart both in your studies (yes, you do need those degrees!) and in your home situation.

I would also like to ask for prayer for myself: two weeks ago I got into a very difficult situation regarding confession/spiritual direction and there does not seem to be a way out. If you could please pray for me. Thank you.

  25. Ellen says:

Please pray for my mother. She is 90, suffering from a pancreatic tumor. She is jaundiced and losing weight fast. The people in the nursing home are angels and take such good care of her. Also pray for my father who is 91 and had a stroke that has affected his short term memory. And pray for me, I am trying to juggle work, and being his caregiver. There are times I feel as though I am being torn apart.

  26. Cafea Fruor says:

Please pray for a thirty-something acquaintance of mine who just found out she has uterine cancer and must undergo a hysterectomy. She’s not married, so she has no children but was really looking forward to being able to have her own someday, but now she’ll never be able to have her own children. :(

At times like this, I find it mildy frustrating that good Catholics, such as this young woman, who so very much want kids and would make good parents find out they can’t have them, while so many other people who could easily have children don’t want them and either contracepting or are killing them in the womb through abortion!

  27. RidersOnTheStorm says:

Please say a Hail Mary for my sister, Sheila, the youngest in our family, whom is undergoing open-heart surgery in Éire.

    Beannacht Dé oraibh

  28. Luciano says:

Please pray for D. Caetano Ferrari, OFM, Bishop of Bauru, Sao Paulo state, Brazil. Today, he excomunicated a priest who refused to remove several videos on the internet where him (the priest) contradicts the Catholic teachings and defends so-called “gay marriage”, “sexual freedom” and that sort of liberal things.

  29. Luciano says:

About D. Caetano Ferrari, OFM: the mainstream brazilian media has beggun to attack.

  30. LindaLD says:

Please pray for my daughter who miscarried her first pregnancy.

  31. A.D. says:

Please pray for my sister who will have surgery May 1st. Thank you.

  32. LaxMom25 says:

Please pray for a local Catholic family whose youngest son (age 4) passed away last week after a painful illness and another old friend whose teenage son took his own life last month.

I will pray for the needs of this group. I love you all.

  33. StJude says:

    Praying for you all.
Please pray for a good job for my brother. For the health of my parents.
    For my personal intention.
God bless each and everyone of you.

  34. Margaret says:

I will pray for all the above intentions. My concern is minor by comparison, but I need to do the gestational diabetes screen this week. Please pray for good results.

  35. RafkasRoad says:

    Torpedo1,

I’ll be praying that your marriage classes go well, that you have no problems there, and that those running said classes are orthodox, competent and genuinely caring for the affianced taking part.

re everyone else, I shall uphold all of you in prayer – including Fr. Zuhlzdorf’s urgent prayer cause.

    Blessings,

    Aussie marounite.

  36. MaryW says:

Prayers offered for your special intentions and those of your readers, Father Z. I ask for prayers for my son and his family. He and his wife are expecting their third child in early Fall and they are looking to buy a home within their means – they are renting now. Also, I would ask for prayers for family members who are no longer practicing the Catholic faith.

Di – Thank you for that beautiful prayer

  37. Supertradmum says:

Please pray for me as I try the monastery one more time, going in tomorrow. I really want to stay and pray my stamina and health allow me to do so. Thanks for your prayers.

  38. dahveed says:

I will happily pray for you all. May I ask your kind prayers for Father C., who is 86 this year, and finally truly retiring? A good and holy priest my family has been around nearly forty years. Thank you all.

  39. NoraLee9 says:

    Hi all:

Please pray for my husband Michael, that his working environment improves, and that his bosses become more supportive of his efforts.

Please pray for our friend Keenan Britt, that he get a good job, and that his health improves.

  40. Supertradmum says:

Pray for the repose soul of my son’s godfather’s mother and for the son, who was very close to her. Therese and Michael.

  41. Please pray for my wife and my unborn child that they be protected from all harm.

  42. future_sister says:

Please pray for a group of Protestant apologists who were at my college all day…. Screaming about how we were all going to Hell. I walked past one in a debate with a student over whether or not we actually exist. To which I suggested the Summa Theologica. To which I got a “I’m Christian! not Roman Catholic!” so against my better judgement I went back to my dorm, grabbed my Bible and Catechism and some other Catholic books and returned to debate… One of our FOCUS missionaries joined me. 2 hours later our charity was running thin, we asked the guy we were debating with to pray for us to which he responded of course, and we told him we’d pray for him too… He went into a meltdown on how God doesn’t listen to the wicked and we were just preaching the words of the Devil and were going to hell. We told him that’s not how to evangelize and he said he was just providing warning to us… My friend snapped at that point and said “well let me warn you, I believe what you are teaching is evil and the words of the devil.” We thanked him and left. I’ve never been involved with anything like that before and I am just a baby Catholic so it was really scary for me. When I left they were busy condemning the Muslim students who were legitimately trying to learn about Christianity. So, please, pray for everyone who was involved with that at any point today. Everyone needs it.

  43. Sissy says:

I have read the requests, and I am praying for all here. I am particularly remembering you, Supertradmum, as you embark on this great adventure tomorrow. I know how dear this is to your heart, and my prayers will go with you. May you be richly blessed, as I know you will be a blessing to all.

  44. StWinefride says:

I will pray for all your intentions, including Father Z’s on my Pilgrimage to a nearby Marian Shrine on this the first day of the Month of Mary. Our Lady, Comforter of the afflicted, pray for us.

  45. Bea says:

Have prayed short prayers for you all.
Tomorrow I will remember all at Mass and with a rosary.
    Fr. Z et al.

  46. Margaret says:

Diocese of San Jose: please pray for the repose of the soul of Fr. Mark Catalana, who died unexpectedly this morning. Fr. Mark was hit by a car last month riding his bike and suffered serious fractures to his pelvis requiring major surgical repair. He’d been recently released but was looking at a long road of physical rehab. He was taken back to hospital this am not feeling well where he died. No word on cause of death. Fr. Mark was our vocations director for a number of years, and more recently pastor of a local parish. He was a young, energetic and inspiring priest. He spoke out clearly on behalf of the unborn and gave spiritual support and encouragement to the local homeschoolers. Requiem aeternam, dona ei, Domine.

  47. StWinefride says:

In your charity, please pray for the repose of the soul of AC who died suddenly this week. Please pray also for her family.

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord
and let perpetual light shine upon her,
    may she rest in peace.

Grant, O God, that while we lament the departure of this Thy handmaid, we may always remember that we are most certainly to follow her. And give us grace to prepare for that last hour by a good life, that we may not be surprised by a sudden and unprovided death, but be ever watching, that, when Thou callest, we may, with the Bridegroom, enter into eternal glory: through Christ our Lord. Amen.

  48. Henry says:

I have no direct knowledge of this situation, but I have seen someone else’s prayer request concerning it.

According to this request, there is a dying woman who apparently received some sort of Catholic upbringing. This report is not terribly clear about what it was or about her life since then, but my impression is that she was and is Catholic but has not been practicing in some time.

Well, her family wants a priest to visit her, but someone physically near her is trying to get her some other visitor who will make sure that she instead becomes what is popularly known as “born again.”

That prayer request asks for the success of that effort. As you may rightly guess from my choice of site, I am not posting here to forward that request. Instead, my prayer request also concerns her salvation–but may God grant that a holy priest reach her first, and may God grant her remission of her sins, a truly good death, and “peace at the last.”

Thank you for your prayers, and I will pray too for your intentions.

  49. atorresesquivel says:

I will keep all your intentions close to my thoughts, and will pray for you today at First Friday mass.

I ask that you pray for the newly appointed Bishop-designate Fr. Michael Charles Barber, SJ, as he was appointed to the Diocese of Oakland, CA this morning by Pope Francis.

    Thank you for your prayers.

  50. amsjj1002 says:

This blog’s intention list is remembered every day during Divine Mercy Chaplet

For a coworker whose mother has been taken off life-support, and her own health is not good.

For Bishop Joseph McFadden of Harrisburg who died yesterday (May 2).

For Bishop-elect Michael Barber, who was announced today as the new Bishop of Oakland; his episcopal ordination and installation are set for May 25th.

  51. aragonjohn7 says:

for priests, intentions, and for those who forrget about God.

    God bless Y’all

  52. NoraLee9 says:

Compared to some of the stuff on this list, this is trivial. Nonetheless, here goes: for our smallest cat, Meemo. The vet found an abdominal mass. We are going to cough up the money to try and save her. She’s only 7 years old. My 16-year old daughter will be greatly upset if we lose this precious little cat.

It never rains but it pours. Because of my RA medication, my immune system is compromised. I scratched my leg on the car door 10 days ago, and now I have what can only be called a “bed sore” on the leg. Went to wound care today. I have to report every day for shots.

  53. mamajen says:

I’m in the hospital, c-section may be tonight. All is well so far, but would appreciate prayers for a safe delivery, and also for strength because I am a tremendous wimp when it comes to pain and will need to undergo some unpleasant things involving tubes and large needles before the surgery. Thank you!

  54. OrthodoxChick says:

    Jen,
Prayers for you and baby right away!!! I understand about the unpleasant tubes and needles. I’ve never had a section, but I was induced with pitocin from 0 cm all the way to 10 with all 4 of my pregnancies. God is with you and baby. You made it to the hospital safely. They have everyone and everything there that they need to get baby out safely. After the tubes are in and the needles are out, the pain and discomfort that goes with them will be manageable. And sections go pretty quickly. Before you know it, you’ll be snuggling your brand new gift from God in no time.

God Bless you and be with you this night and every one to follow.

  55. Sissy says:

Jen, I join my prayers with those of OrthodoxChick and others for your safe delivery of a healthy child. Look ahead to that blessed moment when you hold your little one in your arms. I will also pray for your doctor and the other medical staff to manage your delivery with great skill and care. I know Our Lady’s prayers will be interceding for your tonight. May it bring you comfort that, along with your own family and friends, many people you’ve never met will also be lifting you and your baby up in prayer!

  56. chantgirl says:

mamajen- A rosary from me and my little ones tonight! May St. Gerard intercede for you. I pray for a safe delivery and quick recovery. Godspeed!

  57. mamajen says:

So as not to leave you hanging, I wanted to update that I haven’t had the baby yet after all. Sorry for the false alarm! It really did seem imminent for a while. They kept me in the hospital for observation until this afternoon. I am blessed to have wonderful doctors who want the best possible outcome for the baby, so we are hoping for the 17th as scheduled, giving him more time to develop. We are both doing very well.

I am so, so grateful for your prayers, and your messages really lifted my spirits while I was in the hospital. When the time does come, I will offer up my discomfort for all of you who have been so kind to me. Thank you so much.

  58. acardnal says:

    mamajen,
We are there praying for you and your baby’s well being.

  59. VexillaRegis says:

Please pray for Fr. M. and for all priests.

  60. sciencemom says:

For my mom, who just got out of the hospital after a second seizure that resulted in head, knee, and wrist injuries. She is in a lot of pain and feels nauseous and generally terribly unwell.
