THE REMNANT posted: Rosary Crusade, Prayer by Archbishop Viganò for Reelection of Donald Trump

Dear readers, sometimes I propose to people, as a mind exercise, to try to imagine what goes through the mind of some during her first few minutes in Hell.

Think about that.

Now, as a mind exercise, sit down for 10 minutes with a pad of paper and a pencil.  Try to imagine what will happen to you and your loved ones, your city and your country, if the Left takes the White House in the November election.

Write it down.

Also consider what things will look like if the Left also takes takes the Senate and keeps control of the House.

Write it down.

Pin it up in a highly visible place in your dwelling and look at it daily.  It’s okay to take it down and revise it.

Repeat.

Now consider this.

From The Remnant:

Michael Matt, editor of The Remnant wrote:

I have asked Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò to lead us in this initiative by composing a special prayer to be said by the League of the Sacred Heart worldwide.

Prayer for a Resurgence of Christianity in America
and the Re-election of Donald Trump

Almighty and Eternal God, King of Kings and Lord of Lords: graciously turn your gaze to us who invoke You with confidence.

Bless us, citizens of the United States of America; grant peace and prosperity to our Nation; illuminate those who govern us so that they may commit themselves to the common good, in respect for Your holy Law.

Protect those who, defending the inviolable principles of the Natural Law and Your Commandments, must face the repeated assaults of the Enemy of the human race.

Keep in the hearts of Your children courage for the truth, love for virtue and perseverance in the midst of trials.

Make our families grow in the example that Our Lord has given us, together with His Most Holy Mother and Saint Joseph in the home of Nazareth; give to our fathers and mothers the gift of Strength, to educate wisely the children with which you have blessed them.

Give courage to those who, in spiritual combat, fight the good fight as soldiers of Christ against the furious forces of the children of darkness.

Keep each one of us, O Lord, in your Most Sacred Heart, and above all him whom Your Providence has placed at the head of our Nation.

Bless the President of the United States of America, so that aware of his responsibility and his duties, he may be a knight of justice, a defender of the oppressed, a firm bulwark against Your enemies, and a proud supporter of the children of light.

Place the United States of America and the whole world under the mantle of the Queen of Victories, our Unconquered Leader in battle, the Immaculate Conception. It is thanks to her, and through your Mercy, that the hymn of praise rises to you, O Lord, from the children whom you have redeemed in the Most Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

I note that the Prayer, which is very good and which every person ought to be willing to pray right now, does not ask for the re-election of Pres. Trump.  It asks for him to be protected, to be aware of his duties, to be a bulwark against God’s enemies, defend the oppressed, be a supporter of the children of the light.  It asks the Blessed Virgin to protect these United States.  It asks the Most Sacred Heart of Our Lord to guide us.

There is no reason why even Catholics on the left wouldn’t be willing to pray this, unless they do not want any of those things for us and for this whole nation.  We all want peace, prosperity, wise governance, the common good, adherence to the Commandments, courage for the truth, love of virtue, healthy families (unless you adhere to Black Lives Matter, which in its manifesto states openly they want to destroy the nuclear family).

All decent, good Catholics want the things in that prayer.

ASK FATHER: “I am struggling with my faith due to intense anxiety about death. What makes you believe in God?”

From a reader…

QUAERITUR:

Simple: What makes you believe in God. As a religious person do you have doubts and how do you conquer them.. If you have other priest’s reasonings please tell me their opinions as well.

I am struggling with my faith due to intense anxiety about death and it leaves me thinking what’s the point of living if I am just going to die. I want to regain my faith so then I won’t fear death so I’m searching for something to help me. I’m sorry if you have already answered this question. Thank you

St. Augustine called fear of death “our daily winter”.   In the ancient world, the pursuit of philosophy was “therapy” for fear of death.  These days, however, fear of death has driven most people to constant distractions, ever more hyped up stimuli or entertainments or… whatever.   This is a foundational question for the living of a good life and it has to be addressed.

The first place you must seek an answer to the God question, and fear of death, is in stillness and silence.  Only when the distractions are brought down can you go into that dark place where we all must face Mystery.   Christians, all, must confront the conundrum: If Christ conquered death, once and for all time, then why do we have to die?

“Unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.” John 12:24

In the Church’s prayer in Masses for the Dead, she sings: vita mutatur, non tollitur… life is changed, not ended.

When we lose the incessant distractions and settle into some stillness, there we can face this fear of death and be, in the facing, transformed with an encounter with the Mystery that is God, in whose image we are made, for whom we live and are destined to be with face to face.

This implies personal relationship.  Personal relationships take time to grow.  They are two way streets.  They include listening, not just talking.

Meanwhile, we can also look around at material creation around us and ask how it is even possible for it to exist at all.   Is what we see around us proportioned to some chance or accidental bumping of an electron or the mutation of some speck?  No, that defies reason.  There must be something behind it, something intelligent and thoughtful, with a plan.

I refer you to great books by men like Peter Kreeft, Fr. Stanley Jaki, and Fr. Robert Spitzer in regard to the reasonableness of the existence of God as seen in the observable world.  Also, here is a short passage from Fr. Thomas Dubay in The Evidential Power of Beauty. [US HERE – UK HERE].  It is a really good read. Dubay has such an engaging style.  He doesn’t patronize the reader, by dumbing anything down.  Still, it is challenging.   Dubay wrote (and, mind you, this isn’t perhaps exactly transcribed as it appears on the page):

Conditions for the huge jump from inanimate matter to the simplest cell are incredibly precise and must have been so from the very first beginnings and in the finest details. So also highly specific conditions were and remain necessary, that the human race could eventually have come about and continue to exist. From the first microsecond of the universe, matter had to unfold exactly as it did or there would have been no observers to describe, talk about, and write human history. Close approximations were and are not enough.

Advances in physics and astronomy show that give our early universe had been even minutely different from what it was, and was becoming, life could not have arisen. You and I, conversing through this written page, would not exist, could not have existed for a moment. Even the tiniest variation in temperature or chemical composition of those first moments of the universe would have made the appearance of human life impossible. As one astronomer has put it, a slight increase in nuclear forces would have resulted in stars made almost entirely of helium, stars which would have a shorter lifespan, resulting in insufficient time for life, for man to arise in the universe.

On the other hand, a slight decrease in nuclear forces would have prevented the formation of carbon atoms and other necessary ingredients of life. George Sim Johnston puts it well when he writes of these breathtaking specificities. If the cosmic expansion at the Big Bang at been a fraction less intense, it would have imploded billions of years ago. A fraction more intense and of the galaxies would not have formed. Picture a wall with thousands of dials. Each must be at exactly the right setting, within the toleration of millionths, in order for carbon-based life to eventually emerge in a suburb of the Milky Way.

You cannot help but think of a creator.

God is real and God is personal.  He knew you before any of that creation business, with its nuclear forces and the formation of the bones of the universe.  He brought you – amazing as you are – into existence as part of a plan.

Our sacred liturgical worship ought to be a pre-eminent place of encounter with transforming Mystery, where we deal with our fear of death.

Fr. Z rants about the problems in the streets, offers suggestions. ACTION ITEM!

I’ve been glowering over this “defund the police” B as in B, S as in S.   It’s patent leftist agitprop aimed to tear apart the fabric of society.  The chaos that will ensue will be the pretext for the next wave of howls that some other thing has to be dismantled, as the dangerous dope Rep. from Minnesota called for lately.

This is loooong in coming.  Antonio Gramsci recognized after WW2 that the left could temporarily give up power in X or Y, but if they could control the schools eventually they would get everything else. That is what has been happening for a decades.

Schools – academia – are supposed to teach children and young people how to learn and how to think.  Learning “stuff” is secondary to those two goals.

Instead, schools have been doing exactly the opposite.  They are making young people stupid.  They don’t teach student how to think or learn.  Instead, they teach them how to emote and uncritically accept.  Those in charge of schools have dumbed down curricula, injected social re-engineering and leftist propaganda into class rooms.  The result is that schools – public and CATHOLIC – have churned out wave after wave of drifting, minimally informed dupes, ready to get suckered into backing whatever loudmouthed leftist organizer comes along.  This is what we see in the streets today.

Couple that with the influence of the demonic that certain sins invite and we have the recipe for what we see in the streets today.  It is getting worse.

Generalizations?  Okay.  But bear with me.  You know that I’m right.

I have a thought.

DEFUND ACADEMIA.  DEFUND PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

The problems we face aren’t coming from the police.  They are coming from our classrooms.

Grade school and high school present empty shells to colleges and universities, which in turn fill them up with dangerous BS.

It’s time to cut this off.   There are calls to “dismantle”?  Okay!

A couple concrete ideas.

If you have any money designated in your WILL for your dear old alma mater, college or university… change your will.

Those schools, your old university that you fondly remember no longer exists.

Leave your money to your cat before you leave it to one of these academic cesspits.

If you can, get your kids out of public schools.  And be wary of Catholic schools, too.

Have your children learn a trade rather than go to some lunatic campus to get that coveted BA, the new eqivalent of a high school diploma.

Do NOT fund the entities that are causing damage to our society.  Don’t give them TUITION.  Don’t leave them BEQUESTS.   Cut them off.

With amped-up COVID melodrama fear, and distance learning, inevitable shortfalls of tuition, etc., this is the time.

DEFUND ACADEMIA.

It could be that there are some few good Catholic alternatives left for your bequests.  But the main-stream schools are a really bad choice.

UPDATE:

And there’s this from PJ Media:

Defund the Police? How About We Defund the Universities

Our universities have nurtured and foisted on America and Canada an extreme radicalism that vilifies American and Canadian history, society, and culture. This radicalism stems in the first instance from identity grievance studies programs, such as feminist and gender studies, gay and queer studies, black studies, Hispanic and Chicano studies, indigenous studies, and ethnic studies, which have adopted marxist theories popular in sociology and political science.

This far left ideology has diffused throughout the soft subjects of the social sciences, humanities, education, social work, and law. Far left radicalism has been adopted with enthusiasm by administrators and imposed on any laggard or dissenting students and professors by the many “diversity and inclusion” commissars whose salaries could have funded many scholarships and professorships in STEM fields.

Of what does this extreme radicalism consist? Substantively, it claims that America and Canada are evil, beginning life in sin as slave owners and colonial settlers who engaged in genocide, and continuing on those paths until today. But even in this theory all Americans and Canadians are not evil: only whites, males, heterosexuals, and Christians and Jews are evil oppressors. Females, people of color, LGBT+, indigenous natives, and Muslims, in contrast, are virtuous victims, and deserve to take the reins of control.

[…]

What can we do? Certainly stop donating to universities. Better, encourage others to stop donating. More important, do not send your children to university, and avoid the extremist indoctrination that is all that universities offer. But perhaps as individuals, even en masse, our economic power is limited. We need to lobby our legislators, who fund all of the public universities. They are in a good position to defund, and even to target funding. They can do more: at the national level they can remove the tax-free status of the vastly rich endowment funds of private universities.

If you like riots in the streets, looting, assaults, and murder, and are happy with the destruction of public property such as police stations and statues of Columbus, Washington, and Lincoln, and do not mind police being blocked by politicians as shootings and murders in inner cities negate the idea that black lives matter, then keep funding and supporting universities. If you prefer a civil society based on peace and order, equality before the law, freedom to express your views, freedom to pursue your goals, and proven economics and science to draw on, then fight to defund universities that are actively opposing these principles.

LatinMass.live alive again

A great service has been provided by the creator of the site:

LatinMass.live

This sites “scrapes up” the schedules of various sites which live stream Traditional Latin Masses.

Lately, he had some problem, because commonly used YouTube changed the coding of its pages.  He had to go back to the drawing board.

Right now, LatinMass.live is running, but the creator described a few glitches.

In any event, that site and its creator deserve some praise!

If you are interested in seeing what is going on in the world at Traditional churches, this is a one stop shop.

Fr. Z kudos.

The Coming Storm: St. Louis

St. Louis.

This is what the streets are going to be like, more and more often.

There is clearly a demonic component to this.

Language alert.

https://www.facebook.com/alex.heeb.1/posts/3382385741785323

What a tough guy.  He goes into a crowd of people praying the Rosary and gets up in their faces because he knows that they are not the types to take him out.  What courage.  Threatening to beat a woman.  What a manly man, with his little horn.

BLM, ladies and gentlemen, whose mission statement specifically aims at the destruction of the nuclear family.

Remember what Sr. Lucia wrote to Card. Caffarra?

A priest makes changes: Ritus Covidensis!

What are some of the consequences of COVID-1984?

I really enjoyed this email.

During lockdown, our pastor permitted 5 participants daily (he probably enjoyed the days when too many showed up).

He offered the TLM exclusively.

He refers to the “new normal” as the Ritus Covidensis.

Father reads all readings himself, distributes HC himself and announced prior to HC that anyone who insists on exercising their rights will not be argued with.

Our numbers, including collection, are up. We fear losing him.

“Our numbers, including collection, are up.”

Fathers… get that?   This is consistent from what I hear, when changes are made.

Alas, some priests – who really are free to make changes in their parishes – are squandering a terrific opportunity.

You lay people might make some cheerful, supportive, and pointed suggestions to your priests.

Going forward:

Eliminate Communion on the hand
Bring back kneeling for Communion
Decrease lay readers
Stop the “sign of chaos/peace” option
More TLMs
Forceful, convinced preaching

URGENT – TIME SENSITIVE – INFO NEEDED ABOUT DENIAL OF COMMUNION ON THE TONGUE – REPOST, TWEET, ETC.

UPDATE: 4 August 2020

CLOSED

UPDATE: 7 July 2020

The original deadline for this has passed.  I am waiting to hear back from the canonist in Rome about the data summary from the survey.

Although the deadline has passed, I will keep this open for a while longer.

At the time of this writing, and I will update during the day, there have been:

RESPONSES: 1725

I am trying to imagine what sort of response there would have been had people actually retweeted and posted on social media as I requested.

This was IMPORTANT, as it helps a canonist’s work in Rome to halt the ban on Communion on the tongue.

ORIGINALLY Published on: Jul 6, 2020 at 15:28

If you have a blog, please re-post this.  Please TWEET and RETWEET.  Please put on FACEBOOK, etc.   The link: https://zuhlsdorf.computer/?p=114749

A canonist contacted me asking for help in a worthy endeavor.  He is collecting some information for defense of Communion on the tongue.

He has a deadline with the Vatican: Tomorrow, 7 JULY – NOON Rome time
(= UTC+2 London UTC+1), NYC UTC -4, Tokyo UTC+9)

This is for everyone in the world, EVERY COUNTRY, not just these USA.

This is a very cool video.

Apparently, there was code translating machines but they weren’t that fast.  The “telegraphic” code words in the unwritten Navajo language, with their memorized meanings, meant that coms were very fast.

During WWI the Choctaw language was used for tactical messages.   Meanwhile, Japan and Germany had sent people to these USA to study native languages!   However, there was Navajo, which is really complicated.

400 Navajo were in the Code Talker program, in all 6 Marine Divisions.   The Japanese had cracked the codes for the Army and Army Air Corps, but not the Marines.   There was even a Navajo captured by the Japanese, but he couldn’t make it out.

Code Talkers were at Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Pelilieu and Iwo Jima.  Major Howard Connor, signal officer of the Navajos at Iwo Jima, said, “Were it not for the Navajos, the Marines would never have taken Iwo Jima.”
