Did you know…

I have just time to post a brief note about today’s feast.   I am not so much talking about St. Pio.  Nor am I talking of St. Linus.  Did you know that today was the feast day of the parents of St. John the Baptist?

In the Byzantine Rite, it is the Feast of the Conception of St. John the Baptist.

I’ve noticed that many of the saints commemorated on the Byzantine calendar are listed in my old Book of Saints published by an English Benedictine Monastery back in the 40’s. What I’m trying to say is that the dates are the same, both the Byzantine date and the date from the Roman Missal, at least according to the Book of Saints that I have.

  2. John says:

The feast is of the rank of Memorial for churches and members of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem, known popularly as the Order of Malta.
