Springfield, MO: regular TLM established at St. Agnes Cathedral

I got this from a reader:

Father Z,

Below is a paragraph from the June 2008 issue (see News and Commentaries at the end) of the  Una Voce Arkansas Ozarks Regional Newsletter announcing Bishop J. Vann Johnston‘s prompt move to establish Sunday and daily traditional Latin Mass in in his cathedral. [This is excellent.  If bishops really want to control the TLM, they would do well to lead the way and have it at their cathedral and celebrate it themselves!] As chancellor of the Diocese of Knoxville, Bishop Johnston was a warm and stalwart friend of the Knoxville Latin Mass community. My first response to inquiries from Springfield, when his appointment as their bishop was announced, was that "Our loss is certainly a wonderful gain for everyone in your diocese, including especially the TLM folks."

Springfield, Missouri Latin Mass Developments

Bishop Johnston has arranged for the Extraordinary Form to be celebrated at the Cathedral of St. Agnes every Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m.  During the week he has scheduled the Extraordinary Form Tuesday through Friday at 12:15 p.m.  Father Joseph Orthel is being moved from Stockton to be the primary celebrant and to take other duties assigned by the bishop.  Details have yet to be worked out, but we will keep readers informed as things develop.  The change takes place July 1st, 2008.
