Your Sunday Sermon Notes – All Saints (Vetus Ordo and Novus Ordo)

My Sunday Mass intention today is for my benefactors, those of you who donate regularly, ad hoc, or send things.

Too many people today are without good, strong preaching, to the detriment of all. Share the good stuff.

Was there a GOOD point made in the sermon you heard at your Mass of obligation for this Feast of All Saints in the Vetus Ordo and in the Novus Ordo?

Tell us about attendance especially for the Traditional Latin Mass.

Any local changes or (hopefully good) news?

A taste of what I offered at 1 Peter 5 this week.

God granted us the privilege of venerating the merits of all His saints “sub una celebritate”, under one solemn celebration by a vast throng. Having gathered them together in our liturgical observance, we invoke them together in our petition. Hence our intercessors are multiplied, “multiplicatis intercessoribus”.  We ask Almighty God to pour out upon us the abundance of His mercy.  The saints are our force multipliers.  They are highly motivated and want for us the joy they have for God’s greater glory.

We can squeeze the Collect for more. Tribuisti, “you have granted,” recalls God’s generosity in the past, while largiaris, “may You bestow,” petitions His generosity in the present. The whole prayer moves from the gift already received to the greater gift now requested. We honor the merits of all the saints together and, precisely because we have so many heavenly advocates, we implore a more abundant share in God’s propitiatory mercy.  Heaven is our force multiplier here and now!
