To set up a
recurring, monthly donation (even a small one) go to the bottom of this blog and look for the drop down menu! I remember benefactors in my prayers and during Mass.
As of 28 February 2013, Basil has left his position of running the rat-race on the side bar. He now has retired to his own page

“This blog is rather like a fusion of the Baroque ‘salon’ with its well-tuned harpsichord around which polite society gathered for entertainment and edification and, on the other hand, a Wild West “saloon” with its out-of-tune piano and swinging doors, where everyone has a gun and something to say. Nevertheless, we try to point our discussions back to what it is to be Catholic in this increasingly difficult age, to love God, and how to get to heaven.” - Fr. Z
Double deckers are cute but I only had to ride in one once to discover that riding on top means that the laws of physics give you a slightly rougher ride than those on the bottom. As I am prone to motion sickness, I’ll stay down below thank you.
I’ve always wanted to try the upper deck on a British bus. It’s neat to at least see photos.
I like the updated photos of Fr. Finnigan’s parish. I wonder what it’s like, having a celebrity for a parish priest?
Love the picture of Fr. Finnigan and the altar boys with the bus!
“His Hermeneuticalness” is looking better than ever. May God bless him with many years of service :)
You are both in my prayers, Padres.
I was fortunate to be there. It was a joyous occasion. Ad multos annos, Pater.
Great pictures of ‘His Hermeneuticalness’ at his Jubliee! Ad multos annos!
Speaking of double-decker busses-the first time I went on one was my first visit to England in 1987. I had two companions who ran me off my feet, and they climbed very nimbly to the top of the bus. I was struggling on the staircase; and when the bus lurched ahead, I nearly fell down the stairs! I grabbed onto the handrail for dear life! But I was better on my last visit in 1999, when I was able to get on the upper deck before the bus moved. Well, it WAS a tour bus!
Never saw ‘outside’ pics of Fr. Tim’s church-thanks for sharing them with us, Fr. Z!
