PRAYERCAzT: Vespers (BrevRom) and PENJING REPORT

Again.. just some prayer.  I just turned on the mic and read.  Not a single frill.

Sometimes that is what we are left with.

I reduced the bit-rate on this recording.

If there is enough interest reflected in the stats I’ll do these more often.

PENJING REPORT

Penjing and the Bonsais are back from their spring tour and the penjing sitter, a master gardener I hasten to add.

On their return, Penjing and the Japanese Maple Irohamomiji got a make over.  Re-potting.  The maple is in a new pot sent from my amazon wish list by one of you readers!   The other pot was seriously ugly.  Come to think of it: all three trees were sent by readers!

The process.

Penjing‘s turn.

Penjing is still not at 100%.  There is some good growth, but the color of the leaves isn’t yet right.  Some fertilizer has been added and we now wait.

Irohamomiji has lots and lots of buds, but only a few tiny leaves unfurling.  He has ever been behind schedule.

Penzai the Elm simply flourishes.

My mind is turning more and more to some gardening.

That will be so refreshing after the slime of the news.

Penjing has no comment about the mainstream media.

Clearly, Penjing is trying to cover up a scandal, and is complicit in the crimes committed by his brethren! ;^)

I just saw this headline on the New York Times:
“Fr. Z receives pot from readers.”
“…Causes his mind to turn more and more”

  3. Nathan says:

What wonderful psalmody for today, especially in light of all the crosses the Holy Father and our Holy Mother Church are carrying:

Nisi Dominus aedificaverit domum: in vanum laboraverunt quie aedificant eam. (Unless the Lord build a house, they labor in vain that build it.)

(Unto Thee have I lifted up mine eyes, O Thou that dwellest in the heavens. Behold, as the eyes of slaves are on the hands of their masters; As the eyes of a handmaid are on the hands of her mistress, so are our eyes unto the Lord our God, until He have mercy upon us.)

Qui confidunt in Domino, sicut mons Sion: non commovebitur in aeternum, qui habitat in Jerusalem. (They that trust in the Lord shall be as Mount Sion: he shall not be moved forever that dwelleth in Jerusalem.)

Thank you, Father–it was a spiritual consolation at the end of the workday.

    In Christ,

Two comments above – very funny !!

Here in central California, our tomatoes are in our garden !! I think there are five varieties out there. I wait in anticipation…..

I’m sure with you, Father, on the gardening! It does something for the soul. The same thing happens when I see your feeder pictures. All the beauty is a reflection of God. All my roses have the first leaves and blooms after the winter pruning; this is their most beautiful time. We’re spoiled here is SoCal with gardening all year round.

Father, thank you for sharing Vespers with us again. This is helping me to get back into the habit of praying that Hour of the Office. It is much needed right now and your PodcaZt helps me overcome the inclination to put it off. Thank you.

And I agree regarding the gardening. Our backyard beds are planted and we’re working on landscaping the front yard. Not a gardening day goes by around here without my wife or I having some (blinding flash of the obvious) epiphany about the spiritual life.

  7. Dittos on the thanks. I really have had a huge urge to pray this stuff lately, but it’s a tiring time of year, both physically and for the crud we’ve been handed lately. So it helps to be reminded, and to be able to just push the button and have a prayer help.
