ALERT: REQUEST FOR PRAYERS FOR A MIRACULOUS CURE: Joseph – 2 years old

If you don’t pray for miracles, you won’t obtain them.

I have been exchanging some messages with a priest friend.  I had to share them with you in edited form:

A personal favour. Could you please ask prayers for young Joseph. He is a 2 and a half year old boy of friends of mine … and is the 7th of 8 children. Yesterday afternoon it was discovered that Joe has Category 4 Cancer, the worst. Without a miracle, and barring a misdiagnosis, he may not have long to live. He and his mother are at this moment weaving their way back to the US for treatment.

Please ask all your readers to pray for this family, devotees of the older form of the Mass, who are suffering this ordeal and for Joseph’s cure if it be the Lord’s will.

[…]

The poor father has decided to go along with Mum and Dad and Joe and they are at present overnight in ___. Today Joe was sleeping while his Dad was crying along beside him. He awoke, he is 2 and a half, and asked his Dad why he was crying? ‘Don’t you see the two angels standing next to the bed. They are bewdiful’ He said.

They then left and told Joe they would be back, and he told this to his dad. He is 2 and a half, and his father had not recently spoken at all about angels! The prayers seem to be working, let’s keep them up.

They are seeking the intercession of Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta for a miracle cure. Nice. I had thought about it and asked if his mother had thought of asking anyone in particular and she said Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta came to mind.

I will ask the readers to pray to Bl. Teresa of Calcutta to intercede with God for a miracle for this child.  The parents chose Bl. Theresa.

BLOGGERS!  HELP!

Remember, when you pray for a miracle helpful for a cause of a saint, pray to that person with focus.  Don’t just say, “Jesus, Mary and Joseph and all the saints, and St. Patrick, and St. Brigid, and St. Jude and Bl. Teresa and…”.  When you pray for a miracle that might be useful for a cause, be specific and relentless in that specificity.

I write this because when I post these things inevitably someone says “I’ll pray to my favorite St. Cunegonda!”

Pray to Bl. Teresa of Calcutta for a miraculous cure for this child.

**prayers** And also, passed along to the Catholic NFP forum for prayers.

I’d always wondered how we knew for sure that Saint So-and-so had been the one whose intercession should be credited with a particular miracle. There’s no way of knowing how many different saints and individuals prayed for a specific cause.

  12. Praying. Mother Teresa, pray for us!

Re: why — Asking God for a special favor through a specific person’s intercession, and hence also asking God for a special sign of His favor on the idea that a certain person is praying for us in Heaven, is basically asking God to guide His Church. God isn’t shy about such things, when He wants to do it. You notice how not-shy He was, about making clear that Blessed Cardinal Newman’s intercession had been fruitful for that deacon guy’s back, or for that submarine guy from Chile or wherever who desperately asked a lady saint’s help in closing a flooded hatch. Normal miracles can be a lot more equivocal, because we don’t always have to be certain sure about how Providence is working and because of course all the angels and saints are praying for us, without us having to ask.

So these folks are trying to help their son and help the rest of us get guidance too, which is an awfully kind act of faith. There’s no reason to throw their generosity back in their face by not following their request. God can choose to heal this boy in a clearly miraculous way to proclaim that Mother Teresa is in Heaven; or He could heal the boy in a way that seems more natural or not tied to Blessed Teresa; or He might choose to bring the boy home to Himself instead. The latter two happenings would not constitute any sort of veto; it would just mean God wasn’t moving to proclaim Blessed Teresa at this time.

The child’s vision of angels reminds me of something that happened to my paternal grandmother when she was dying of bone cancer. She awoke to find my grandfather upset. She told him not to worry. She could see our Lord Jesus at the foot of the bed. She felt that Jesus was there to comfort her. As long as he was at the foot of the bed, she still had more time. Some time later, she informed my grandfather that Jesus had moved to her side and to prepare for her death, which indeed came a short time later.

I have never fully accepted that what she saw and what happened to her was of divine oragin. The doctors told us it was visions caused by the cancer attacking her brain. But the story of the little boy’s vision makes me wonder if she wasn’t really right all along.

When my time comes, I hope I have a pair of angels come to lead me home, too.

  38. green fiddler says:

Joining my prayers that little Joseph may be restored to health, through the intercession of Blessed Mother Teresa. Lord, bless this precious child and his family. Thy will be done.

How beautiful that angels have been sent to comfort him and his dear ones. God gives such consolations and reveals His tenderness to those who trust with the heart of a child.

Many years ago my grandparents lost two children within days of one another, a five-year-old girl and a boy the same age as Joe. GrandMa and GrandPa’s faith stayed very strong. I believe they entrusted the children, and all of our family, to a favorite saint who continues to help us in miraculous ways.

Egyptian, I’m crying with you, too. God bless all parents who have suffered the loss of a child. You are very close to the Heart of God.

    This is already a miracle.
How does a two-year-old boy know that beauty will console his sorrowing father?
I think that flesh and blood did not reveal this to him.

  51. alpate says:

I will pray for this boy and his family. Doctors are good and needed but they should also look into the natural approach. God has given us many things to cure naturally also. I could tell many a story. There is much out there today in regards to this. Blessings and love—-Pat
