HOW DISGUSTING! What if the drone had crashed to the ground and Our Lord spilled on the ground? What disrespect and what Sacrilege!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Again God Have mercy on us and on the whole world.
Can we make it even more obvious that our focus is on ourselves – in this case, how innovative we can be, and especially in a worship setting, etc. etc. – as opposed to on Jesus?
It is not a gold-plated drone….
This shows that even priests have not learned the difference between priestly hands and motor vehicles.
And they all clapped.
If there is any clapping during the Mass, you know something is taking away from the true focus.

Did you notice there is narry a crucifix present in the church? I am sure that this is no accident.
And it wasn’t just “there was some clapping.” There was CHEERING, and WHISTLING, and continuous clapping: a spectacle for enjoyment and fun! And no, the clapping wasn’t over “Jesus Christ present here before us, body, blood, soul and divinity”, either.
However, if we have a little bit of luck, somewhere along the way (since the pastor obviously has very little sense of what it means for Christ to be sacramentally present), he never actually confected this particular host, and they WEREN’T actually treating Jesus in a sacrilegious manner. Wouldn’t that be ironic?
Well they’ve got a bunch of women up there so, clearly the mindset can be seen.
That is a horror, an absolute horror. It felt like Jesus was being held hostage. The obvious very present danger of a fallen drone with the Blessed Sacrament on the floor was less important than the spectacle I guess. Sad. Beyond sad.
I don’t wish to over-generalize, but most of these outrages seem to happen in Latino nations. What’s up with that?

Where are the consequences for this sacrilege?
There are none because there can’t be sacrilege where there is an absence of belief.
I almost didn’t believe the video with the monstrance containing the Body and Blood of Jesus, but strange things have been happening in Brazil. When I described some of the silly and sacrilegious events that went on this Holy season, she was brought to tears, because the Eucharist is personal for us, like someone in our family being abused.
Does anyone see a crucifix? I don’t. I can sort of distastefully imagine at the very top of the frame at certain moments those are our Lord’s feet dangling. Is this sanctuary even licit? Somehow I doubt that this is the first time liturgical shenanigans have happened here.
Well, it was drone delivery or air canon and the Priest thought, “What a way to make a statement that I’m hip and with it!”
Ah. This is one of those items that makes me fear I am not suited for trench warfare. It brought me to tears and filled me with dismay. To me it is a flagrant mockery of the Holy Eucharist (whether intended as such or not), and the strains of Handel’s Messiah in the background made it even worse.. As others have said, the fear of it crashing to the floor or hitting the wall was uppermost in my mind until it was safely in the hands of the Priest. Christ gives us his sacred body to unite us in Himself and we, like silly children, tie it to a drone and fly it about in the Sanctuary to cheers and clapping ?
I was reading during Lent daily meditations and readings by St. Louis de Montfort on http://www.religiousbookshelf.com, that stated that the longer the Lord allows a person to sin without being punished, the greater the chastisement. Lord have mercy on us when the day comes that the cup will overflow and the chastisement begins.
Can someone please send this to the Congregation for the Divine Worship?!?! Justice needs to be served for this sacrilege!
“The outrage!” decry the faithful. But seriously, this isn’t worse than a sacrilegious communion, which, by its nature, is not caught on camera so easily.

I think it IS worse. A sacrilegious communion is a catastrophe for the person entering into it, but this is a type of scandal which publicly dishonors the Body of Christ and brings the entire Church into disrepute.
This is not “NEW”. It has been before, about 800 years ago. In a museum (in Germany as I recall) there is a ciborium, silver, that is in the form of a dove. It’s body is hollow with a lid on the top containing hosts. It’s wings are hinged to allow them to “flap”. It was lowered over the altar by rope, stopping a few feet at a time to allow wings to move, settling on the altar where the hosts were removed.
History does repeat itself. It appears that abuses do as well.
I wish not to dIminish the sacredness of the blessed sacrament but my thought is the liability. Those drones are not without their safety concern. An errant move and the blade(s) into the crowd could do damage to a person. Not very well thought out in my opinion.
The idea of the medieval dove-shaped tabernacles on chains was to keep the consecrated Hosts safe by keeping them high up. (As opposed to tabernacles built high up in walls or high inside pillars. It was reached by a rope as opposed to a ladder; but either way, the point was to avoid break-ins.)

Familiarity comes presumption, presumption breeds contempt.
That the pastor who allowed this is not summarily dismissed by his bishop is a scandal.
That this bishop has not dismissed this pastor is cause for his own dismissal by his superior.
Hell “if it exists” will freeze over before that comes to pass.
This event is the perfect illustration of all that has transpired over the past fifty seven years. Only to be matched with the reportage of utterances by German Benedictine “theologian” Anselm Grün on the Immaculate Conception.
The truths of the Faith are in the hands of those gone berserk. Genesis 11:1-9 can no longer be domesticated as an etiologic myth. It has proved to be blistering prophetic. Rogue clerics spin their notions with a Catholic lexicon and those deliberately left uncatechised for fifty years lap it up like kittens.
Got to have that thrill. Got to be entertained. Give me a feeling. Give me a faux religious experience.

Seems like a Redemptorist parish, but I have a hard time seeing it.
Although, I’ve seem some cultures orient to technology way different that North Americans. Brazilians might not see the employment of technology as being quite as disrespectful as more staid cultures. And, believe me, I’m not excusing this. Another thing I saw once was a Coptic Wedding during which there were two video cameras on booms, a video Steadicam and three still photographers. It did not seem to bother anybody in the church; it just added to the celebration.
I hope it’s clear that I don’t endorse this, but I do think it illustrates that various culture apprehend technology differently. For example, I think in some cultures it would not be uncommon to see pictures being taken at a wake, of the open casket. White European North Americans have a taboo about that.
So, the upset here might be more about cultural, rather than liturgical, sensibilities.
To give credit where credit is due, all of the names, above are original to me, except Pilate Error. That was from a sign I saw outside of a Presbyterian church during Holy Week.
