This morning very early I set out from Rome for London once again.
I had a few very good days in the Eternal City, catching up with friends and running errands.
For example, yesterday the Pope was in my diocese. Nice.
Then a couple of friends, to be known only as "the Inquisitor" and "the President" and I went to the mountains for lunch, which involved gnocchi with black truffle, rabbit and porchetta with a very solid Chianti riserva.
In the evening I was out for supper with Fr. Lang, whom I am sure most of you know by his fine book Turning Towards the Lord. I also saw my old bosses His Eminence Augustin Card. Mayer and, in the evening, Msgr. Perl, with whom I had a cordial chat.
Another Roman day.
Today, having arrived in one piece, I find myself in internet HELL. So, we might not be seeing much from me for the next couple days until I get back to a modern access point.
“The Inquisitor” and “the President” went to the mountains for gnocchi with black truffle, rabbit and porchetta …
Wow! Something’s up! For sure! I can feel the tension in the air.
Where are the food photos? I’m all about “and these thy gifts”
bgt: I took food photos, believe me. However, on my travels I have been at times in connectivity hell. I have had little opportunity to upload photos and little time to write online.
In the meantime, here is a shot of a plate of spaghetti alle vongole I had at one of my favorite Roman restaurants “da Fortunato” near the Pantheon.
