It is “spring forward” time again.
You get to lose an hour of sleep tonight or risk missing Mass in the morning.
Reset your clocks tonight before going to bed. Most smart phones will do this automatically. I use mine as my alarm clock.

“He [Satan] will set up a counter-Church which will be the ape of the Church because, he the devil, is the ape of God. It will have all the notes and characteristics of the Church, but in reverse and emptied of its divine content. It will be a mystical body of the anti-Christ that will in all externals resemble the mystical body of Christ. In desperate need for God, whom he nevertheless refuses to adore, modern man in his loneliness and frustration will hunger more and more for membership in a community that will give him enlargement of purpose, but at the cost of losing himself in some vague collectivity.”
“Who is going to save our Church? Not our bishops, not our priests and religious. It is up to you, the people. You have the minds, the eyes, and the ears to save the Church. Your mission is to see that your priests act like priests, your bishops act like bishops.”
- Fulton Sheen

PLEASE subscribe via PayPal if it is useful. Zelle and Wise are better, but PayPal is convenient.
A monthly subscription donation means I have steady income I can plan on. I put you my list of benefactors for whom I pray and for whom I often say Holy Mass.
In view of the rapidly changing challenges I now face, I would like to add more $10/month subscribers. Will you please help?

"But if, in any layman who is indeed imbued with literature, ignorance of the Latin language, which we can truly call the 'catholic' language, indicates a certain sluggishness in his love toward the Church, how much more fitting it is that each and every cleric should be adequately practiced and skilled in that language!" - Pius XI
"Let us realize that this remark of Cicero (Brutus 37, 140) can be in a certain way referred to [young lay people]: 'It is not so much a matter of distinction to know Latin as it is disgraceful not to know it.'" - St. John Paul II
Grant unto thy Church, we beseech Thee, O merciful God, that She, being gathered together by the Holy Ghost, may be in no wise troubled by attack from her foes. O God, who by sin art offended and by penance pacified, mercifully regard the prayers of Thy people making supplication unto Thee, and turn away the scourges of Thine anger which we deserve for our sins. Almighty and Everlasting God, in whose Hand are the power and the government of every realm: look down upon and help the Christian people that the heathen nations who trust in the fierceness of their own might may be crushed by the power of thine Arm. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end. R. Amen.

Prayer Before Using The Internet HERE
Almighty and eternal God, who created us in Thine image and bade us to seek after all that is good, true and beautiful, especially in the divine person of Thine Only-begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, grant, we beseech Thee, that, through the intercession of Saint Isidore, Bishop and Doctor, during our journeys through the internet we will direct our hands and eyes only to that which is pleasing to Thee and treat with charity and patience all those souls whom we encounter. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
When I was a child, I would turn on the vacuum tube shortwave radio my parents gave me one Christmas and tune to:
Time and Frequency Station CHU (Canada),
The frequency for the CHU 7335 kHz transmitter was changed in 2009 to 7850 kHz: Frequency Change for Canadian Time Transmission Station CHU
Or move to sunny Arizona where we don’t do all this foolishness…
Personally, I am outraged that we lose an hour of Sunday, even worse, in Lent. This type of religious discrimination just can’t be tolerated anymore.
I wish we would return to the old practice of waiting until at least mid-April to change the clocks. As it stands right now the time change “delays” sunrise until well after 7 a.m. (in my area) which means a return to getting up in the dark just as if it were mid-winter again… ugh.
Stupid Daylight’s Savings. Mothers hate this…especially Spring. Grrr…good thing for Mystic Monk Coffee!
Whatever historical need (real or imagined) that once necessitated the notion of DST, we are long past it! Keep the clocks the same all year ’round!
This weekend does seem early. Here in Britain we are due to change the clocks the weekend of the 29/30th March.
Guess I am the odd woman out here. I love the fact that I can go out early and do gardening and stay out late to finish it as well. There is just something about the light.
@HyacinthClare….I love Arizona! That is where my heart truly is. Pinetop and Tucson are my favorite places there. :0)
Everyone: Does it matter if you like Daylight Savings Time or not? If you are against it, gather people and change the law.
Until the law is changed, in some places the clocks will change. Change your clocks or be late to Mass.
This isn’t astrophysics.

A little trick we use for the kiddos is to try and adjust their nap / meal / sleep schedule by 10 or 15 minutes per day during the week before. Personally I think many adults could benefit from this. My 3 year old once requested “Can I ask Jesus to make the sun go back to sleep? It’s too bright.”
Losing an hour of sleep during Lent is perfect.
Oh, and no one at my EF parish was late to Mass this morning. Not even the families with 6 – 8 children and infants. It can be done!
Changing the clocks is like Canute trying to hold back the tide – an example of the government thinking it can change what God has set in motion.
As the sarcastic locked the church at 8pm tonight, someone did come looking for the 7 pm Mass that had just ended.

Charles E Flynn, back in the day when I too had a vacuum tube shortwave, living in Boston I often tuned in to CHU, since the US equivalent WWV in Fort Collins Colorado did not always come in very strongly. Also the alternating time announcements in English and French gave me a chance to practice my French numbers. A little less accurate maybe, but more charming were the chimes of Big Ben on the quarter hour on the BBC broadcasts. Their time broadcast in GMT did not help with figuring out our time change though,
Yes, unfortunately these past two mornings I have woken up at least half an hour later than I meant to….Though thankfully, nothing was missed either time. I guess I’ll have to make my alarm clock extra loud.
It won’t change in the UK and Ireland, as Pelerin noted, until 30th March – the change is on the last Sunday in March. However, that got me thinking, since I seemed to remember it being earlier when I was at school in the 70s. The wonders of Wiki revealed to me that during the 70s, after a period of experimenting with no change at all (1968-1971), the change was fixed for the third Sunday in March, unless this was Easter in which case it was the second Sunday. However this was changed to the current set-up from 1980 onwards, to concur with arrangements in the EEC or whatever they called it back then.
