It was the 7th Sunday after Pentecost and the day after the feast of St. Joachim and Anne. The priest reminded us that Joachim and Anne were the grandparents of Jesus and that God chose for Jesus to be become man through an extended family. The Gospel was Jesus warning his disciples to beware of false prophets who are inwardly ravening wolves.
Then he told us that the children coming to the border are our extended Catholic family and we should protect them from ravening wolves.
Strong words on how evil often appears to be nice and full of love and understanding, but it is all a lie prepared by Satan.
Our associate pastor, who is from India, said very clearly that we either follow the way of the Kingdom of God or the the way of the Kingdom of Evil. He gave a simple example that when he is in the Kingdom of India he drives on the left hand side of the road, when he is in the Kingdom of the United States he drives on the right hand side of the road. He noted that the rules you follow indicate which Kingdom you desire to be in and serve. This sermon was based on the OF gospel – Matt:13:44-52.
Bishop Lee Piche sang a bit of a song by the band Bread and related it to the pearl of great price and the field. It was cool.
Be not disturbed by the statements made from the Vatican and other hierarchical sources.
Pope John Paul II was Pope for 25 years, yet he only made ONE dogmatic statement (which was on the ordination to the priesthood was reserved for men only).

Galatians 1:8 Douay-Rheims Bible states:
“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach a gospel to you besides that which we have preached to you, let him be anathema. ”
And ended with the prayer of Teresa of Avila:
Let nothing disturb you,
Let nothing frighten you,
All things are passing away:
God never changes.
Patience obtains all things
Whoever has God lacks nothing;
God alone suffices.

A companion to a recent sermon on fraternal correction:
Gossip is a serious sin, sometimes even a mortal one. There is a peculiar idea in our culture that
we have a right to know everything about everyone. We don’t. So don’t gossip about others or listen to it.
By their fruits you shall know them. Followed by several examples, the most striking was a barely veiled, unspecific comment about recent church history which asked the question – where are all the communicants? His meaning was not lost on anyone – I thought this was very bold.
