I received some interesting feedback today from a reader in England:
From a reader…
Thank you very much indeed for The Divine Mass, today. I counted up to 50 “Virtual” Congregation Members, today.
You will be pleased to know that I followed (Verbatim) The Mass in my 1879 Missale Romanum. Probably the only time, since 1879, that this particular Missal has been used for such a Divine following of The Sacred Mysteries.
I noted the incessant interjections, at the beginning of Mass, by the clamour of The Civil Defence Alarms going off in your neighbourhood. [Yeah… that was a little distracting. As a result I started the “Iudica” psalm in the prayers at the foot of the altar. Ooops!]
This put me in mind of the incessant barrages against Holy Mother Church by The Dark Forces of this World, insistent upon disrupting and interrupting The Divine Mass. [There is a sort of “Lord Of The World” or “Children Of Men” feeling to it (the book, for the love of God, not the horrid movie).]
It was only yesterday that The British Government, within days of denying The Abortion Lobby permission to add on a Coda permitting women to “Self-Abort“ (without the necessity of two Doctors authorising such a dastardly action) during a Vote on The Virus Situation, did an “About Face” and permitted such an Action. [Don’t let a crisis go to waste.]
The Government agreed that: “It would be unreasonable to expect a pregnant woman to go out into a potentially infected locale in order to ask a Doctor for permission to Abort, and therefore risk infection. Therefore, for a period of two years, Self-Abortion (without the necessity of two Doctors authorising such) would be permitted”. [TWO YEARS?!?]
Mind you, The British Governement are not totally callous. They said that they would review this decision “in two years”.
What odds, one would ask, on The British Government reversing that decision in two years’ time, after permitting possibly millions of unborn Babies to be killed in the interim.
The totally, demonic, irony of the above, is that all this took place whilst the World and his mother are frantically trying to save millions of lives because of the Virus Pandemic. This includes, of course, The British Government.
The Prince of this World must be laughing all the way to the Bank.
The above follows very closely on The New Zealand Government’s decision to do almost the same thing. Except, there are no safeguards at all for the unborn in New Zealand. The Abortion can take place at any time, at the mother’s wish, up to AND INCLUDING Birth.
The Greatest Evil The World Has Ever Seen.
One is staggered at the TOTAL LACK OF COMMENT by any BISHOP, CARDINAL, or PRELATE, of The Roman Catholic Church, in relation to the above. [No prelate in England and Wales responded?]
Meanwhile, back to The Divine Mass, today.
Thank you, very much, dear Fr Z, for the ability to follow the progress towards Easter, to understand in greater detail Passion Week (which I believe was re-named Post-Vatican II to something less “nasty”), and to, indeed, encourage us to think much more closely on The Divine, and NOT on The Temporal.
As always, Thank You, dear Fr, for your Priesthood.
Wow. Alarming. I’ll bet Big Business Abortion is shoveling money around.
I also want to use this bad new to remind you that there is a Morning After Pill REVERSAL available.
What happens when women take the first abortion pill and then change their minds? THERE IS A WAY TO SAVE THE CHILDREN. Dr. George Delgado is on the forefront with his Steno Institute, named after Blessed Nicolas Steno, 17th century Danish scientist, physician and bishop. I know about this because of my work with Heartbeat International, who has taken over the network of doctors in these USA who will prescribe the Abortion Reversal Protocol that Dr. Delgado developed. It has been really successful. This guy is a hero.
However, I am glad to be of help with the live stream of the Masses.
With regard to above allegation that no English Bishop commented on Government action in this matter, there was report in 31 March online edition of ‘Catholic Herald’ of comment made by Bishop Sherrington, part of which is copied below:
“Bishop John Sherrington said he was “shocked” by the move, which the government had first announced, then quickly rescinded, before introducing once again.
“Bishop Sherrington, the English and Welsh bishops’ spokesman on life issues, said: “We understand why the government wishes to keep women away from hospital at this time but are shocked to hear that the Secretary of State for Health plans to introduce temporary measures to allow telemedicine and early DIY abortion at home without any medical supervision present.”
“He continued: “These measures fundamentally change access to abortion in England and Wales for the foreseeable future. Whilst these are emergency times, these measures further endanger women who, for example, are rushed into decisions by abusive partners and act without any proper consultation.””
My son sent the family this in text today. It is related.
The Corona Virus is a tragedy. Every single life lost to this virus is absolutely heartbreaking. This is meant to rally around a positive silver lining. Lives are also being saved right now. Due to the quarantine, Planned Parenthood has slowed down their offerings of surgical abortions. If planned parenthood was to stop performing abortions altogether during this quarantine, IN ONLY 3 days more American lives would be saved than all the deaths caused by Corona thus far in the United Sates. In 30 days, shutting down Planned Parenthood operations would mean more baby lives would be saved than all the lives that have been taken from COVID-19 in the entire world
” civil defense alarms”? I presumed they were Father’s clock chimes since it was noon.
The other alarm ( a siren) is the monthly tornado warning alarm. First day of each month.
Re the New Zealand situation. It is true, that the most dangerous position in New Zealand now is in the mother’s womb. Our “glorious” leader Jacinda Ardern rammed this through our Parliament under urgency whilst our country was prepping for COVID19 lockdown.
NOT ONE Bishop, and especially not our Cdl., John Dew, made ANY public statement. The council of Bishops through a non-binary, lentil infused, spokesthing made a bland concerning release. NO SINGLE BISHOP DID.
Idle hands do the devil’s work.
I’ve noticed that everyone who is for abortion has already been born. – Ronald Reagan
We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.
– Winston Churchill
These politicians would probably have insisted on abortions being an essential service in the Titanic’s infirmary as the ship was going down. I get the sense these people are quite willing to sacrifice and destroy everything else so long as they can keep their unholy sacrifice to Moloch going uninterrupted.
Meanwhile, even as fornication is taking a hit with social distancing, I have read that some adult websites are now offering free subscriptions while people are stuck at home. Scary stuff considering confession is now fairly difficult to find.
Greetings and thanks for your welcomed offering of Mass. All prayers for you, as to so many hats which many may not realize need to be worn in production; and then putting those off for forming naturally into your priestly role. Forget the fret over Iudica! Are you kidding me!? When back at the ranch we have Vatican II-PLUS Boise Bishop Christensen “ordering” no ad orientem celebrations!!
https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/boise-bishop-bans-ad-orientem-masses-in-new-liturgical-instruction-38422
In your humble list member’s opinion, the noise is not your natural surrounding, rather one in this Bishop’s head, one which has seemingly bothered him in not being able to achieve what he thought his ilk would have achieved well before now. (And why now? Perhaps the “downtime” of private pandemic Mass offering will, gasp, encourage our priests to learn, practice the Vetus Ordo!?) He unfortunately, analogically, like the now corporate co-optation of the iconic Wells Fargo stagecoach, are the same in taking their customers/the faithful in the wrong direction.
Your pre-Mass announcement post providing that pictorial showing the innocent aspiration of the child, shows that, when important things are afoot, one doesn’t need to face a room for sought approval, rather attends to the true task at hand, and all behind know what the focus is. We too to should take a lesson in such orientem.
Prayers for you and the readers of this site during Passiontide.
On 29 March was England rededicated to Our Lady of Walsingham. Juxtaposed with abomination.
Semper Gumby – I love that quotation from President Reagan! History will recognise Mr Reagan as one of America’s best presidents.
Simon_GNR: You are correct sir.
Many people, from historians and authors to regular joes like you and me, appreciate Reagan, Thatcher and St. John Paul II. Could they have done more? You bet, all of us could, but their accomplishments, against the Evil Empire and rampant secularism, were remarkable. A Lesson for the Ages.
Even the “Iron Lady” was often a Happy Warrior.
Zechariah 10:
Together they shall be like warriors,
trampling the foe in the mud of the streets;
they shall fight because the Lord is with them,
and they shall confound the riders on horses.
“I will strengthen the house of Judah,
and I will save the house of Joseph.
I will bring them back because I have compassion on them,
and they shall be as though I had not rejected them;
for I am the Lord their God and I will answer them.”
Then Ephraim shall become like a mighty warrior,
and their hearts shall be glad as with wine.
Their children shall see it and rejoice,
their hearts shall exult in the Lord.
Simon and Semper G:
you may be aware of Paul Kengor’s excellent 2017 book: “A Pope and A President: John Paul II, Ronald Reagan, and the Extraordinary Untold Story of the 20th Century”? Thoroughly recommended.
And speaking of Mrs. T, the third member of that memorable trio, last Saturday 28th March was the 41st anniversary of her “no confidence” motion in the Commons against the Callaghan-led Labour Government, which she won by just one vote. But it changed history. For the better.
jaykay: Good book. For an interesting tale involving Fatima by Frank Shakespeare, Reagan’s Ambassador to the Holy See, see Kengor’s article from 2017 at the often-effective Crisis magazine:
https://www.crisismagazine.com/2017/ronald-reagan-john-paul-ii-fatima
Here is a paragraph from Kengor’s article:
“How did the media miss this at the time? Well, for one, this was a 10-day trip through Europe by Reagan, where the Bitburg controversy ensued. That was pretty much the only thing the media cared about. And the very few sources that did note Reagan’s Portugal speech—such as the New York Times (albeit barely)—made no mention whatsoever of the Fatima reference.”
Kengor provides a link at “…the Bitburg controversy…” to a May 6, 1985 article in the New York Times about Reagan, Kohl and their visit to the German WW II cemetery. Interestingly, this particular NY Times article isn’t bad.
While we’re at it, and with the last two paragraphs of the 1985 NY Times article in mind (Reagan’s remarks), take a look at the Soviet submarine K-129 which sank in 1968. In 1974 the bodies of six Soviet K-129 sailors were recovered, and buried at sea with military honors by the U.S. Navy. A videotape of this 1974 ceremony was provided to Boris Yeltsin in 1992 (and is on YouTube).
Semper G: wonderful article, thanks for the link. This struck me:
“And it was the two of them who joined together in the 1980s to wage battle against the beast—against the very communist threat that the Lady of Fatima had warned the world about in 1917. They, too, wanted to crush the head of that serpent. And ultimately, they prevailed.”
They did prevail. For a time.
jaykay: You’re right, they did prevail against the godless Commies, for a time.
“The price of liberty is eternal vigilance.” This quote has been attributed to Thomas Jefferson, Frederick Douglass and others.
Tolkien had something to say about this in the Silmarillion:
But Morgoth himself the Valar thrust through the Door of Night beyond the Walls of the World, into the Timeless Void; and a guard is set for ever on those walls, and Eärendil keeps watch upon the ramparts of the sky.
