Another sign of the times

Granted, this hasn’t happened yet, but it is a sign of the times. Think about the implications of even thinking about doing this?

Hint: “cancel culture”.

So if I understand correctly, they are thinking about cancelling the private Masses that go on in the early morning hours when there are virtually no tourists in the basilica? That would indeed be a loss :-/ I miss the days when you were free to join any private mass of your choice. Now it seems to be strictly by reservation only.

Even though I rarely attend NO masses, the NO daily mass at St. Peter’s is always one which I actually look forward to attending whenever I am in Rome. Indeed, it would be a great pity if they decided to cancel it permanently. It‘s always amazed me how the NO Latin mass has been a staple of the basilica, and has never been done away with by a certain faction. I sincerely hope it doesn’t come down to that :-/

    Sign of the times indeed.

Then again, St. Peter’s should be reconsecrated.
