I’m so sorry to hear this. I remember Fr. Sotelo from wayyy back. He always had a good way of coming in from a different angle and making one think. I always enjoyed his contributions to the comment section. May he Rest In Peace.
My friendship with Fr. Angel goes back to the COL days of the mid 1990’s. I met him a few years ago when I was at an ocular melanoma conference at Stanford. He drove from Chowchilla to Palo Alto so we could spend a few hours together. After a lunch at a nice upscale rsstaurant he showed me all around the seminary where he had trained, he was very proud of his seminary. I will miss his well thought out posts on Facebook, his wit, and our mutual interest in dream interpretation. I’m a better person for having known him.

Saddened at the loss of Fr. Sotelo. I met him in these very comment boxes. He didn’t hesitate to take a position that he could argue was rooted in some virtue even if it meant he stood alone.
Prayers for his soul.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and perpetual light shine upon him.
Amen, amen, oh, I feel so sad. Tomorrow’s rosary for the repose of his soul. My sincere condolences to you Fr. Z., his family, community and friends.
Praying for him.
Hopefully every friend or acquaintance we lose on earth means one more friend in heaven/Purgatory, praying for us!
Just yesterday, I read St. Jerome’s Letter 60, which is very interesting about grief and loss, as well as a portrait of a very diligent ex-military priest and patristics fan.
St. Jerome advised the dead guy’s uncle and bishop that he shouldn’t act as if he’d lost him, but rather, as if he awaited him.
