CQ CQ CQ: Ham Radio – #ZedNet reminder – 3 April ’22

Fellow hams, here’s a reminder about ZedNet for Sunday 3 March ’22 – evening at 2000h EST. (0100h ZULU Monday).

NB: I CANNOT BE NET CONTROL TONIGHT.  Will one of you volunteer?

It is possible that I could get it started, but I can’t remain long.

We now have the site running:  http://zednet.xyz

Zednet exists on the…

  • Yaesu System Fusion (Wires-X) “room” 28598, and 83466 which is cross-linked to
  • Brandmeister (BM) DMR worldwide talkgroup 31429 (More HERE)
  • Echolink  WB0YLE-R

Fellow hams who have access locally to a Yaesu System Fusion repeater, a repeater on the BM network, or a multi-mode hotspot registered with BM can get on and have a rag chew…. 24/7/365

Want to get involved? WB0YLE provided a Bill Of Materials, with links, for what you need. HERE  THIS WAS UPDATED on 22 March 2021

I created a page for the List of YOUR callsigns.  HERE  Chime in or drop me a note if your call doesn’t appear in the list.

  1. JonPatrick says:

The net last night started off well with 6 stations and Mr. Boyle presiding but at one point while he was transmitting, everything stopped and I could hear no more transmissions. It seems as though Brandmeister had stopped working. Solar flares? A Russian cyber attack? I kept monitoring for several minutes but nothing so I gave up around 0035Z.

  2. We noticed that you had disappeared! We try to leave no one behind…but…others on BM were getting through. I’m wondering if you’re connected via wifi or hard line?

One thing to remember is that if BM senses that you are apparently ‘kerchunking’; they will not recognize your ID and allow you through for an hour. It’s not (even after 7 years on…) perfected yet. It works well enough, but would not want to depend on it for TEOTWAWKI. Even I have Echolink up during the net when I’m NCS as a backup Just In Case my hotspot (or net connection, or router, or ???) decides to go brain dead. Just keep the volume down on one or the other.

Wondering if Steve in Cambridge joined the ranks of the General Class licensees tonight? He was taking his test.
