    I tried:
    1. Rh8+ Kxh8
    2. Qd8+ Qg8 . . . and I got stuck. So this isn’t the right way.

    So then I tried:
    1. Qd8+ Rf8
    2. Rh8+ Kxh8
    3. Qxf8+ Qg8 . . . and I’m in the same place. I exchanged Rooks, which doesn’t help anything.

I tried a few other idea and got nowhere. I’m stumped.

This is from the convent of the Oblates of St. Frances (Santa Francesca Romana), known as the “Tor de’ Specchi”. This particular image is 10th down in the linked site (which is in Italian and English):

This is the same chess puzzle that was posted under Daily Rome Shot 659 on February 10. I recognized the theme starting with 1…Qd8+.
