This is an outstanding podcast. If you cannot watch it all, the highlights are:
~ 15 minutes: an unintentionally helpful quotation from Pope Francis, that will be used against his agenda.
~ 35 minutes: an amusing and insightful quotation from the late Cardinal Pell.
Edward Pentin at the end said he believes the next conclave will give us a orthodox pope in reaction to the bad things in this pontificate. How will that happen if (1) a super-majority of the voters are liberal, and (2) the people running the election mechanics are corrupt?
Great talk. All great guests. One thing that really strikes me about Pentin in particular is his sincerity. Call me nuts, but I really do think Cardinal Ranjith will be next pope provided the conclave is soon.
The Robert Royal-led discussion was very good but Fr. Raymond J. de Souza really knocked it out of the park with his critique of FS in the December 30, 2023 Catholic Thing post.
I hadn’t been following the news all that closely – I did not know the specifics with how poorly Cardinal Burke was treated. To cut his pension AND his health care, and then jack up the rent 4 times the previous amount – it’s not just harsh, it’s engineered to be insulting. It feels like we’re bordering on “Cadaver Synod” levels of petulance and immature pride.
