  1. Matthew111 says:

The cover of the kissing book also has Cupid and Psyche on it (a detail from Psyche Revived by Cupid’s Kiss by Canova).

Apuleius’ “The Golden Ass” isn’t quite the best source for visuals when writing about marriage, or mysticism, for that matter.

Listened to Thompson. That was brutal. I didn’t read Fernández’s garbage. That was shocking. SHOCKING. Imagine the same office once being held by Ghiliseri, Merry DelVal, Ottaviani, and Ratzinger to this disaster. I’m literally shocked. Sick is an understatement. I hope the next Pope uses fists and an axe.

From a friend’s local diocesan paper:

“In the press release, published in six languages, Fernández provides one “concrete example” of what the spontaneous “pastoral blessings” might look like in practice, explaining that they should only last “about 10 or 15 seconds.”

“Since some have raised the question of what these blessings might look like, let us look at a concrete example: Let us imagine that among a large number making a pilgrimage a couple of divorced people, now in a new union, say to the priest: ‘Please give us a blessing, we cannot find work, he is very ill, we do not have a home and life is becoming very difficult: May God help us!” he said.

“In this case, the priest can recite a simple prayer like this: ‘Lord, look at these children of yours, grant them health, work, peace, and mutual help. Free them from everything that contradicts your Gospel and allow them to live according to your will. Amen.’ Then it concludes with the sign of the cross on each of the two persons.”

The article quotes a sample blessing. I am wondering what the issue is with that wording; I feel it’s making sure not to condone. Am I missing something? And in full disclosure, I am definitely worried about this latest confusing release.

I see the lack of fraternal correction (or any correction) in that blessing, but would that matter? Is the real issue here the apparent perception that the church is supporting people in their sinful/irregular lifestyles?

I don’t mean to be daft here; this is all so very confusing.

    And Fernandez…yeesh.

Fr. Z, NASA says to watch your email for your updated Space Shuttle Door Gunner Requalification Certificate. It looks like you were the only gunner able to hit the target with 110% accuracy

  5. JustaSinner says:

So, the SSPX is in the doghouse because Bishop LeFabre(spelling?) anointed bishops without consent of the Holy See? How is this different from what the Patriotic “catholic church” does in China?
