A Z-Cam upgrade

I have a better webcam from the window of my office now.

One of you WDTPRSers sent me the present cam some time ago and it is much better than the older one I had in the window.

The multiple audio streams thing still baffles me, but I am working on it.  I want to be able to do some call-ins view skype on Radio Sabina once in a while.

I think the audio quality is pretty decent.

I have this set up, right now at least, automatically to play a recording of the Holy Father reciting the Angelus at 0600 1200 1800 and 0000 CST.

Pretty right now…

Sound is coming through but my video feed is mostly black; however right hand corner appears to be tassles?

  2. Frank H says:

It’s a bird feeder. At night.

  3. RichR says:

Very nice. I do like the video quality.

  4. Dan says:

    How lovely it’s snowing.

  5. Did it snow during the night? I thought I saw a walkway yesterday, where snow had melted… The birds are really flying in this morning…

  6. Quaesumus says:

Father, are we going to get to watch you shovel? :)

  7. Quaesumus: I think I’ll go out there in a few minutes, though it is still very lightly snowing.

  8. Much enjoyed listening to ‘See, amid the winter’s snow’ whilst watching the snow flakes!

  9. I much enjoyed listening to ‘See, amid the winter’s snow’ whilst watching the snow flakes fall!

  10. Much clearer overall.

I tuned in just in time to hear the Holy Father pray the Angelus in Latin. How glad I was that Fr. Perrone taught us this prayer in Latin so that I could respond accordingly.

This is the beauty of knowing prayers in Latin – it doesn’t matter where you are in the world or what language you speak, all can pray in a universal tongue.

Father, for whatever it’s worth, I think that a live “Radio Sabina” program would be delightful.

Man am I loving this! I moved to Arkansas from Wisconsin years go, but I still miss the snow! This is so serene and beautiful…Thanks FrZ!!

Wow, I am at work but check the site frequently but going to it and seeing is live Mass is wonderful! Something so peaceful, so beautiful about that.

    Thanks Father!

  14. Ed Casey says:

    Buon Natale!

The cam is clear and pictures streaming well. the multiple inputs appear bright and movement is good. I caught the end of your Mass just now and it looked super.

    Thanks for the work.

  15. Dan says:

It’s always a privilige to see one of your masses Fr. Z!

Speaking of radio, when is Catholic Answers Live going to have Fr. Z. on it? I’ve emailed them with the suggestion before.

  17. The Rockin Traddy says:

i first logged on this morning and watched the birdies. Very nice, this delving into Father Z’s quietude. You are blessed to have such beautiful land.

  18. Dove says:

All I got was a piano bar version of “Walking in a Winter Wonderland”. Do I have to hang in there to hear the Holy Father?

  19. Dove: You might read the main entry and figure out the times which I listed for the Angelus.

  20. John says:

Thank you for this, Father – it makes getting ready for work a serene and joyful experience!

  21. Coletta says:

    Thank you,Father.

  22. Quaesumus says:

Father, what cut of chasuble were you wearing for Mass?

  23. DCS says:

I too wanted to say ‘thank you’. We subscribe to xm and they killed the good Christmas music at 12:00AM the 26th. I’m going to guess this is a good source for Advent music as well. The inset of the altar is great and I caught myself wondering if there was another source to stream to get only that video and audio, then it dawned on me, with a private Mass, there probably isn’t much to hear. Thanks again.

  24. Quaesumus: That was the so-called “Philip cut”, a historic vestment now used also by the Holy Father. It is the style of Roman vestment at the time of the Council of Trent, and after. It represents the organic development of vestments from the fuller “gothic” style to the modern Roman vestment. This is the sort of chasuble you see in paintings of St. Philip Neri and St. Ignatius, for example.

  25. Mary W says:

Thank you so much for this, Father. Does the priest also wear a cincture when saying the TLM?

We’ll have the TLM in my parish when Hell freezes over. The priests of the parish have made it very clear that they don’t like it. Heck, we don’t even have a visible crucfix at the altar during Mass. There is Christ’s Corpus without the cross above the altar and the processional cross has no Corpus.

When the chat is open during the live steam, it’s possible to use a stand-alone IRC client to participate in the chat room. This does require you to register with Ustream and create a username and password. The IRC chat server for Ustream is chat1.ustream.tv, configure the client with your Ustream username and password and when you are connected, get the room list and look for #radio-sabina and join the chat room. Pidgin is a pretty nice chat client which does more than IRC.
