“I’ll have to check my calendar!”

Sometimes when people are not sure of their future positions, they hesitate to accept appointments for distant dates.

In November 2006 there will be a sacred music conference in Rome for the 50th anniversary of the death of Lorenzo Perosi.  There will be some interesting events.  Among them, I read:

Venerdì 24 Novembre 2006

16.30  Vespri, presiede S. E. Mons. Piero Marini, Maestro delle Celebrazioni Liturgiche Pontificie. Patriarcale Basilica S. Pietro – Cappella del Coro.

    Father,

On this side of the pond, Amy Welborn’s reporting what she calls “a rumor” that Archbishop Marini has been hospitalized with a heart attack. It’s 4:30 in the afternoon here on the eastcoast, and so far no other blog, or news service that I can tell, is reporting the same.

If you should check in before hitting the Etruscan hay, could you update us?

Amazing story if true. In the meantime, I’ll pray for the archbishop, and remember – charity, charity, charity.

Hmmm… Father, if you get any more details on that, please let me know!

  3. Apparently, Archbp. Marini had an angiogram or angioplasty procedure at Gemelli Polyclinic. This is not nothing, but it is not earthshattering either, particularly for a man of his age and the level of stress over the years. Perhaps he should now consider a long and well-deserved rest?
