I believe that the Holy Father says his private Masses every morning ad orientum. As for the High Altar in St. Peter’s Basilica, it always faced that way, towards the East (while some churches might be content with “Liturgical East” even if they are really facing North, in Rome that tradition has always been more rigid).
As we all know, after waiting endlessly for the MP, our Holy Father seems to be taking his time in matters liturgical. We must trust that he knows what he is doing! Viva il papa! Viva l’Italia!

What does a mu mu look like?These chasubles look like what they are supposed to be a chasuble-casula,a little house.
These look exactly like African bowling mu-mu,s
They are without taste or beauty,objectively speaking.
There are little consecutive bowling pins that appear in an African style moving across and down these completely unelegant little houses.
Why is the beauty dead with the majority of these chausables.
Most of the Roman Vestments seen are exquisite.
Many Gothic likewise.
These are not.

Not amusing at all. I think we all have grossly overestimated Benedict XVI’s agenda and intentions regarding the liturgy.
The Papal Masses, especially the “anything goes” liturgies in Brazil, proves it is still the same John Paul II style liturgies with no change for the better in sight.
These chasubles are the ones that were worn at the Papal Funeral of John Paul II. If I’m not mistaken, and I very well may be, they were also used at our Holy Father’s installation Mass. I think the Cardinal who is speaking is His Eminence Egan. It looks as though he’s speaking to His Eminence Keeler. If so, Egan won’t get any clarification from him!
I don’t wish to appear argumentative, but I watched Benedict’s
Brazil Mass that was televised on EWTN and respectfully disagree
that it was a re-tread of John Paul II’s style of celebration.
The Pope’s vestments were more traditional, the arrangement of the
altar was more traditional, there were no dancing girls or other
strange insertions. I would agree that it did not meet His Holiness’s own test, i.e. Sacramentum Caritatis. In that I was disappointed. However, I believe Benedict is trying to “walk the cat back” slowly and I think we need to be a bit more patient. After all, if today we had a pope in the style of Paul VI, there would be no Sacramentum Caritatis, no mention of a Motu Proprio, and Ecclesia Dei would be disbanded. Tom

Well said. The folks who are continually sour and bitter towards this Pope need to walk away from the internet and cuddle up with their Rosary and some lives of the saints. Daily mass wouldn’t hurt either, if they are not already doing so.

Actually, at the Second Sunday of Easter Mass this year in Piazza San Pietro, the –Eucharistic Dialogue I believe it’s called?–was in Italian in the booklet: “Il Signore sia con voi”, but the Pope did it in Latin, “Dominus vobiscum” and so on. I was quite excited. “Is this forgetfulness or deliberate? No–must chalk it up to deliberate.” I don’t know, but either way it made me happy.

A great many of us cannot attend daily mass as we have to go to work early in the morning and there are few evening masses. You must live in a big city?
When I see all the bishops dressed alike like this, it makes me laugh. Is this a modern thing? Who designs all this stuff? How much does it cost? Did they haul all this stuff to Latin America? Imagine having the power to dress all the bishops alike in public? That’s clout. Good thing it’s not me–I’d put them all in blue like the smurfs. ;)
