16 Nov: Dayton, OH: Solemn TLM

From a reader:

On November 16, Fr. Eric Flood, FSSP, North American District Superior of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter, will be visiting the Latin Mass community in Dayton.  He will offer the first Solemn High Mass in almost 40 years in the Cincinnati Diocese  on that day. Those who live in the Dayton area  are encouraged to make a point of attending the Mass on that day . You are also asked to spread the word about this event. This very beautiful liturgy is filled with reverence and many other symbols not present in the typical Sunday High Mass

After the Solemn Mass, there will be a brunch reception for Fr. Flood at the Dayton Polish Club at 1470 Valley Street, not far from Our Lady of the Rosary Church.

I am glad to hear about this as it is in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, but it is still at least an hour out of Cincinnati! When will we get a TLM in Cincinnati?

  2. Ken says:

TA1275 — Isn’t Jesuit Father Herbert Raterman still saying an 11:30 a.m. Mass on Sundays at Sacred Heart in Cincinnati? (7:30 p.m. holy days.)

  3. TA1275 says:

Hmmm… I didn’t know about that one. I was unable to find a website for the parish so I don’t know if it is still going on, but I did find its address. It’s still a county over and probably about 35 minutes away (I’m on the East Side). So let me rephrase my lament. O when will we ever get a TLM on the East Side of Cincinnati? My closest option is the Latin NO at Old St. Mary’s downtown, which is lovely but still about 25 minutes away.

  4. cordelia says:

Sacred Heart in Camp Washington has the TLM every Sunday i think around 11am.(it is offered by an FSSP priest too) St. Bernard in Dayton, KY has it every Sunday at 12noon.

  5. Alexander says:

    I will definitely be there.

Sacred Heart Church in Cincy does indeed have a TLM on Sundays at 11:30 done by varying priests usually; sometimes I attend it.

The TLM at St. Bernard in Dayton Kentucky is being stopped. I don’t know why though – the Convington diocese will no longer have TLMs at least for the time being.

  6. Frank says:

Fr. Flood is in Vancouver, British Columbia, at the moment. Tonight, at the FSSP’s Holy Family Parish, he celebrated a Solemn High Requiem Mass for All Souls Day, with Fr. Erik Deprey, the pastor, as deacon, and Fr. Daniel Geddes, the assistant pastor, as subdeacon. Earlier in the day, the three priests celebrated a total of six Low Requiem Masses for the souls in purgatory.

Next weekend, we have another distinguished visitor, Fr. Josef Bisig, rector of the FSSP’s Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary in Denton, Nebraska. He will celebrate a Solemn High Mass on November 16 in honor of the sixtieth anniversary of the church’s founding to serve the German community in Vancouver. The Mass will be attended by Archbishop Raymond Roussin and Coadjutor Archbishop Michael Miller. On Saturday, the 15th, Fr. Bisig will give a talk in the church hall at 10 a.m. The talk will be open to the public.

  7. Frank says:

Oops … Fr. Bisig’s visit to Vancouver will be on November 8 and 9, not 15 and 16 as stated in my previous comment!
