Muslims burn 6 Christians to death after false allegations
Lahore, Pakistan, Aug 2, 2009 / 11:31 am (CNA).- Religious extremists struck again in Pakistan on Saturday when a violent mob of Muslims looted and burned a Christian neighborhood, killing six Christians by burning them to death. The attacks took place in reaction to a rumor that the Koran was desecrated in a nearby village.
The violence, which took place in the central Punjab town of Gorja City, occurred early on Saturday when a throng of Muslims surged into the Christian quarter, setting all 40 of the Christian houses and two churches aflame.
As the crowd of Muslims approached Gojra City, Christians fired shots at them in self-defense.
Six Christians—four women, a man and a 7 year-old child—were burned to death in the attacks.
The rioters were enraged by the alleged desecration of the Koran in the village of Koriyan, about two miles away.
However, Rana Sanaullah, provincial minister for law, who is also responsible for security matters of Punjab, said that an initial investigation found there was no desecration of the Koran. "It was just a rumor which was exploited by anti-state elements to create chaos," he said.
According to locals, the police observed the looting and burning, but took no action. “Though police was present at the time of attack, miscreants were not stopped by them,” local Christians complained. After some time, the police tried to stop the protesters, but the mob turned on the police, resulting in some injuries.
According to Minorities Concern of Pakistan, “this is the third incident in the last two months of this kind in Punjab province in which Christian localities were attacked due to alleged blasphemy.”
Christians make up just 1.5 percent of the total population of Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

I keep wanting to believe that Islam is a religion of peace but the evidence seems to contradict this.
The evidence is that the only peace that is acceptable to Islam is the death of all faiths other than Islam. I would like this not to be true, but the more news I read the more this seems true.
Being that these are fellow humans, I cannot help but wonder why reason is left out and violence based on RUMORS is what they choose to do. What causes them to behave in such irrational ways?

But if the rumors were true, is this an acceptable response in the twenty-first century? Would it every be an acceptable response? If Muslims desecrated a Bible, I would hope that a mob of Christians would not go and burn down a village.
May merciful God grant eternal rest to those martyred Christians. Our Holy Church was founded with the price of the Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ, and the spread of our Faith has always been accompanied by the blood of the martyrs.
Satan likes to present itself as the angel of light, but that doesn’t make it an angel of light, for darkness is its true nature. Our Lord says, “By their fruits you shall know them.”
The blood of the martyrs will not be shed in vain, nor will unrepentant murderers go unpunished. As Christ says, “And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them.”

Miscreant – “one who behaves badly or criminally”
Miscreant is probably an old fashioned “Hinglish” word used by people in India.
But it is not even remotely descriptive of the incineration of six Christians, except if carried out by Muslims.
Even worse, not one Muslim in the world will condemn this atrocity.

So very sad for thesed good people to have to suffer so much. Pray for them.
As a matter of fact, a Bible has been left open at an art exhibit here in the
UK to be desecrated by anyone with a pen. Of course, no Christians have set anything
on fire or killed anyone yet over the affair, one reason why such desecrations will continue .. Mostly Christians have complained in a “if it were the Koran, you wouldn’t dare” way.. I am not sure that this can be considered a spirited response. Surely there is a middle way between the brainless hysteria of Pakistani peasants and the apathy of Christians in the UK.
Meanwhile, there are indeed moderate Muslim groups that do condemn Muslim atrocities. One is the Muslim Canadian Congress.
We need to hear from Muslims what their attitude is toward those who committed these atrocities.
Goes to show you that Islam really isn’t all that peaceful.
I doubt that Nobama’s administration will anything.
A couple of years ago some Islamic militants ransacked a Catholic church and school in Gaza City, destroying bibles and religious pictures.

I don’t recall any evidence of mass demonstrations and killings of Muslims by Catholics.
Yes, romancrusader-Islam is ‘not’ peaceful when things like this happen!
Imagine if Christians retaliated-hoo boy, what an outcry would be! They’d be pilloried in the press!
And of course, ‘Nobama’ will say nothing about this outrage….
