The Finches are changing their colors, the Nuthatches and Chickadees aren’t chummy anymore, I have spotted Robins so I know that spring is here. No really. It is. That’s what I keep telling myself.
That’s why there are icicles still hanging on the feeders.

This fellow is decked out in his spring colors and I am sure the ladies will not be able to resist. In the last couple weeks the plumage of the males has gotten brighter. If I am not mistaken House Finches nest pretty early in the year.

The huge news involves the return of the huge Pileated Woodpecker. We saw him the other day. He is coming back to the suet cakes! I hope he will bring mom and the kids as well. I may get a couple extra cages and put them far out from the house.
Chickadees are content with less. But for Chickadees less is more.

Ah, just love the bird pictures. It looks so wintry there. We don’t have snow and ice, however, a dusting of snow is called for on Sunday. I can’t get over that huge woodpecker, Father, you are so blessed to see him and have him return. I would buy him a couple more suet feeders, too. Just a few days ago, I cleaned and refilled my upside-down thistle feeder and just like magic I saw two Goldfinches, they’re baaack. Have you tried one of these feeders? It seems that only the Goldfinches can hang upside down to eat from it. Thank you for sharing the birdz, I just love to see them when I visit your website.
Was that the pileated I saw on the ustream/Radio Sabina the other day? Just a couple glimpses as the suet swung around. In other news, junior member of household is inquiring about raising a bonsai, after reading an article in a kids’ magazine.
