A great new biography of St. Francis of Assisi by Fr. Augustine Thompson, OP, who posts here now and then. Learn about the saint after whom Pope Francis purposely chose his name.

I’m liking this, a lot!
Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned. I have stolen this picture and plastered it all over my Facebook page.
However, since I’m both telling you, and will be linking the picture back to you, maybe I can downgrade my theivery to a teeny-tiny venial sin. *Grin*
Thanks for smile!
I gave you a link to where I found it. Be sure to go there to visit as well.
Deee-lightful!

Do stuffed frogs count? I was different.

The Theodore Roosevelt Association has an annual program to raise funds for children who are hospitalized that could use such a protector. The website for this endeavor can be found here:

Post over at CMR:
“At the four corners of a child’s bed stand Perseus and Roland, Sigurd and St. George. If you withdraw the guard of heroes you are not making him rational; you are only leaving him to fight the devils alone.” ~G.K. Chesterton
Guess we can name one of the Bears St George! ;-)
Another great quote from G.K. (I have to start reading more of his work)
Semper Fi!
When I was a kid, I took art lessons. The teacher had a painting in her home of her two young sons, sleeping together in bed, and between them, their teddy bear. In contrast to the sleeping boys, the smiling teddy bear’s eyes were wide open, as if bear were keeping watch. I wish I had a picture of that painting today.
Teddy is quite appropriate:

Oh, that is sooo cool!
Thanks for the smile, Father Z!
Awesome! The monster appears to be looking at the little bear and saying, HUH? UH OH!”
This reminded me of a very old prayer.
Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John,
Bless this bed that I lay on.
Before I lay me down to sleep,
I give my soul to Christ to keep.
Four corners to my bed,
Four angels ’round my head,
One to watch, one to pray,
And two to bear my soul away.
I go by sea, I go by land,
The Lord made me with his right hand,
If any danger come to me,
Sweet Jesus Christ, deliver me.
For he’s the branch and I’m the flower,
Pray God send me a happy hour,
And if I die before I wake,
I pray the Lord my soul to take.
AMEN
I’m reminded of Gideon (Judges 6 and following); and of the visible view of the Church today.
Hence the reason I still have my teddy. :)
Here’s this comedian on the nighttime prayer.
