Pres. Obama owes you and me an apology!

Mr. President, you owe me and millions of American Catholics an apology.

You apologized to Islamic extremists and other Muslims abroad and in the United States for something done against the Islamic faith by mistake.

What you are doing to the consciences of Catholics and indeed all American, contrary to the 1st Amendment, you persist in doing on purpose.

As President you have offended me.  You have offended millions of Catholic and all American citizens who enjoy religious liberty under the 1st Amendment and who, as human beings, do not deserve to be so demeaned.

You think American military personal should be held accountable for their mistake.  Why should you, Mr. President, not now be accountable for what you are doing deliberately?

apologyYou owe us an apology for demeaning our Catholic Faith.

You apologized to foreign extremists, including terrorists who want to kill us.  Apologize now to mainstream fellow Americans.

American soldiers burned copies of the Koran, which contains instruction and guidance for their faith, by accident.  You then went out of your way to beg forgiveness.

I am not asking you to grovel.  I would be satisfied – on this point – if you simply stopped attacking me and others who hold our rights and human dignity to be granted us, not by your Administration, but by God.

Pressing forward your anti-Catholic HHS mandate is tantamount to a purposeful public burning not only of the 1st Amendment, but also Catechism of the Catholic Church, which reaffirms that Catholics cannot, in good conscience, bend to your unconstitutional and irreligious impositions on our faith and freedom.

For a change, apologize to us.

All I can add to that is “AMEN.”

It seems to me that as a practical matter, Obama is responding to the threat — actually, it’s more than a threat — of violence. The Pope, on the other hand, has no divisions. I keep going back to Shelby Steele’s characterization of Obama as a “bargainer”. The pattern in US race relations following the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (which occurred without the threat of violence) has been for rioters to bring about violence and for extremists to threaten further violence, which “bargainers” avert by extracting race-based preferences, such as hiring, admissions, and contract quotas, and other preferential entitlements. Obama is acting as one might predict, given that pattern. He and his allies see no contradiction, since they’re acting purely on the threat of violence.

  3. UncleBlobb says:

Yes, Father, thank you! And he owes more than an apology. But it is not really surprising that he acts in these ways. People like President Obama and the socialist, secularist left get there ideas of right and wrong by the power of a club, the tyranny of the majority. And it seems that Muslims in Muslim countries also rule in this way in practice, and hope to in Europe and everywhere else for that matter as soon as possible. And so this seems to show that President Obama has a greater fear of the Muslim retaliation, than for any Christian retaliation, or even a purely reasoning, freedom-loving, American retaliation.

The sound of crickets from 1600 Penna. Ave. is deafening.

  6. rodin says:

What he is doing to our Constitution is, to my mind, treasonable. An apology won’t do.

  7. HyacinthClare says:

Rodin, I’m with you. The only thing to do with the mandate is recission, the only thing to do with this president is impeachment.

  8. EXCHIEF says:

There have been numerous, documented instances of the Marxist president alluding to his Muslim faith and his fondness for the Koran. He flip flops on the issue of what religion he practices based upon political considerations as he flip flops, or more directly–lies–, about almost everything. Keep in mind also that he has no respect for our Constitution and he, like socialists before him, knows the Catholic Church is the only formidable adversary he has. So he compromises CINOS for his purposes and attempts, through things like the HHS mandate, to drive a wedge into the Church any and every way he can.

The last thing anyone can expect is an apology for the HHS mandate and if, indeed, there were an apology it would be very insincere. Such an apology would make me both wary and suspicious of what his next act of Constitutional defiance and attack on the Church would be. Anyone who has voted in favor of infanticide, as Sotero has, is not to be trusted or believed on any subject.

  9. digdigby says:

I think many of us have been very uncharitable to President Obama. He has serious ‘father issues’ as he made plain in his ghosted ‘autobiography’. He needs to win the approval of His absent Muslim father by destroying Western Civilization, the United States of America and doing everything he can to establish barbaric Muslim dominance over the globe. Wouldn’t daddy be proud! We must help little Barack overcome the wounds of his childhood and succeed in his therapeutic quest to find ‘wholeness’.

    From here:
    http://www.catholicvote.org/discuss/index.php?p=27329

So, what is it about Muslims’ beliefs about the Koran that deserve your respect, and what is it about Catholicism that does not?

If you are holding people in the military accountable for the inadvertent burning of the Koran, who should we hold accountable for your deliberate violation of our religious rights?

In order for the Koran incident to be as serious as what you have done to Catholics, you would have to force Muslims to pay for the burning of Korans. You would never do so. It is unthinkable. It should also be unthinkable for you to force Catholics to violate our consciences.

  11. Dismas says:

I agree with Rodin and Hyacinth. I’m not holding my breath for any insulting hypocritical apology. I am, however, hoping for impeachment.

  12. bookworm says:

“The only thing to do with the mandate is recission, the only thing to do with this president is impeachment”

When Illinois Gov. Blago was impeached in 2009, one of the charges in the article (singular) of impeachment was that he promulgated rules for a State-funded health insurance program despite having no authorization or appropriation (funding) from the legislature to do so, and despite a legislative oversight committee (none exists at the Congressional level) having prohibited those rules from taking effect. Rules, health care, overreaching executive power…. it’s deja vu all over again!

  13. pm125 says:

November is coming along – he’ll keep blathering to hold it together because he knows his ‘constituents’ are clueless. In Afghanistan, homosexuals are beheaded, young girls are kept pure, and the religion is the core of their lives (extremists and all). For extremists, the US is their money, arms, and traffic harlot. Christians, whose religion is also the core of their lives, are inconvenient voices for both sides of the battlers. Whatever happens in November, may God bless His people. A mess without reason (chaos) is getting set up now for profiteers and opportunists. We have the Lord telling us to pray, fast, and give alms and take care of His kingdom for Him to help us – that first then on to all this other trouble which is tiring and overwhelmingly divisive. The commander and branch won’t stop laughing at everything.

  14. rodin says:

Impeachment hardly seems enough in face of the crime. In California they managed to recall the Governor they had just elected. Even recall is not enough for this person and at this point in time is pointless. We can only hope and pray he will be replaced in November.

  17. pfreddys says:

I think this is suitable to cut and paste and email almost as is to POTUS how about it?!?!?

  18. lizzy17 says:

Father Z, could we perhaps use this as a sort of group letter and all send a copy to Obama? It’s a lot more eloquent than how I could put it, and it probably won’t make a difference, but it wouldn’t hurt for him to hear it?

  19. letchitsa1 says:

Very well said, Father. I won’t hold my breath waiting for the apology, though, and as others have already noted – if he were to apologize, I’d worry more about what he was up to next.

  20. tealady24 says:

Thank you Father! We stand with you! Don’t hold your breath for an apology; we are only CATHOLICS, after all! (Not muslims like him). I say those korans were burnt deliberately by the enemy.
What an absolute disgrace he is; yet, true to form. Why does anyone believe this deceiver will ever be anything but?

As the Boondock Saints said,”Alright, time for some gratuitous violence!”

Though I also have the funny feeling Obama would just love the opportunity to declare martial law and suspend elections indefinitely if he could…

  23. Yes, Obama does owe us an apology – and we are obliged to accept it, if it is sincere.

Dont trust too much in 2012 – I am looking forward to when Our Lord comes again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and whose kingdom will have no end.
