From shoebat.com:
Muslims Rape Christian Women, 600 Christians Take Up Arms And Make One Final And Heroic Stand Against Muslim Jihadists
After so much rape has been done against Christian women in Iraq, 600 Christians in Iraq have now taken up arms to make one final stand against Muslim Jihadists, members of the ISIS terrorist group, at the frontiers of the Christian settlement of Bartella on the outskirts of Mosul.
These 600 Christians, “all mighty men of valour” (1 Chronicles 12:21), are led by Capt. Firaz Jacob, a Christian warrior who has himself declared with the utmost of apostolic zeal:
I stand here waiting for my destiny… We will stay here despite everything… All these armed groups we have seen, but nevertheless we will remain. We love our Christian way of life, we love our churches and we love our community.
Bartella was suppose to be protected by the Iraqi government, but state soldiers fled from ISIS, leaving the Christians to take up their cross and commence a crusade to keep the jihadists away from their lands.According to one report:
The Iraqi government soldiers who were supposed to be protecting this area ran away from the Islamic extremists. Now, Bartella is defended by about 600 lightly armed Christian militiamen.

Sts. Nunilo and Alodia…
This brings to mind the Cristero War in early 20th century Mexico. The Church has never recognized any of those fighters as saints, only clerics like Bl. Miguel Pro who gave their lives for the Faith, but without taking up arms.
The Catechism teaches that one can forgo one’s right to use deadly force in self-defense. But it also says that one cannot abdicate that right when one has the care of others, as with one’s family. One is then positively obligated to use deadly force in self-defense in cases where it is necessary.
Next Pope up for declaring a new Crusade? Still have dreams of the Cross replacing the crescent in Asia Minor.
We definitely need a new crusade. One of intense prayer and fasting in reparation for our sins and those of others. For the conversion of our enemies hearts and for our brothers and sisters in the Middle East and other parts of the world that are being persecuted in unimaginable ways. That they may have the strength and faith of martyrs. The uncertainty and anticipation of what is a very real threat of intense emotional, physical and spiritual suffering is an agony that is indescribable.
Disgusting, pathetic jihadis. Hiding behind masks and guns, terrorizing women and children. Their religion is the antithesis of true religion. Instead of taking care of widows and orphans, they rape and enslave them. They are opportune rapists and murderers, they do nothing good.
We must resist the evil that is Islamism with much prayer and fasting. We must also bring to light the cowardice and vile acts of Islamists in the public square. Americans are largely ignorant of the suffering of Christians and others in the region. Our vapid press and myopic university fauxminists are largely to blame.
Openly pressure Muslims to reject the Islamists. Through prayer, example, and other means of steady evangelization, may Muslims of good will reject false religion and recognize Jesus as God.
And to think that the U.S. armed ISIS as part of supporting the “moderate” resistance in Syria.
Wonder who made that call?
Irritating. There is nothing noble about this. It is the result of a foolhardy attitude by the Catholic Church toward Islam that has lasted now for fourteen centuries. Islam is an intellectual and theological lightweight. It contains little of the deep Truth that the Catholic Church teaches and nothing save what it stole from Catholicism.
Father John Zuhlsdorf, if he had a brief introduction to the Qur’an and to Islamic history and maybe knew a bit of Arabic, could intellectually smash any Islamic thinker inside of five minutes. But the Church, the Church as a whole at least, has always run away and fought a purely defensive battle against Islam and now is reduced to this pathetic militia on the outskirts of Mosul. Is she still scared because of those dazzling military victories a long time ago. The Catholic Church is the only force in the world that can defeat the idea of Islam, the idea itself, so let us go forth to that battle and leave the gun toting to others.
Yes the concept of Crusade is non- PC at present, but that will change.
From its origin in the early 7th century, Islam has been a violent expansionist religion which initially swept over and conquered much of the early Christian world and has continued to periodically attack up to the present .
The current assault using violence, threat of violence and steady but planned immigration and infiltration, is arguably their most successful push yet.
The Crusading movement was a legitimate counter attack which failed to recover these early territories and peoples, although Christianity did suceed in blocking several later violent assaults.
We, and sooner or later the secularist world, will have to come to terms with what is happening, and counter it.
The link to CBSNews no longer works. Have they censored this story?
I can’t help but wonder what is going on at our own borders when young girls 10, 11, 12 are coming in alongside 18 year old “children ” and into the arms of our Homeland Insecurity dirtballs. Do we really believe our Government is out there protecting them? More likely they are passing out free coupons for the Planned Parenthood tent at the receiving centers.
I have a solution: invite them to the Vatican to pray that they may overcome us.

I am sure they already have contingency plans to go to the Vatican in order to redecorate as soon as they finish re-establishing their caliphate.
The US funds, trains and equips the militaries of many Muslim countries, the Jewish state of Israel yet we leave the Christians to be exterminated? Why doesn’t the US have programs in place to equip and train Christian self-defense forces? The Christians of the lands of the Tigres and the Euphrates have a place that could be their own; it’s probably not economically viable as a nation-state but it could be an autonomous governate of Kurdistan or whatever non-jihadi state exists in the immediate area. The place is called Nineveh Plains, we should equip it with defense forces like we do Israel and the Kurds (I don’t hold my breath for Obama to help defend Christians): https://www.google.com/search?q=nineveh+plains+project&oq=Nineveh+plains&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j0l3.2567j0j4&client=ms-android-verizon&sourceid=chrome-mobile&espv=1&ie=UTF-8
Ah ISIS… an ‘Islamic’ group so dedicated to Allah that they named themselves after a Egyptian diety.
Everything here looks like another American backed and trained and re-labelled Al Qaeda looking to finish what the Washington regime was hoping to do were they allowed to get away with attacking Syria under false pretexts. If you’re wondering why Obama is so reluctant to do anything about ISIS when he’d jump at the chance to begin another war with another nation, it’s because ISIS is very possibly a U.S. led and backed terrorist organization.

There’s no rhyme of reason to their actions. It’s simply to start trouble and make a mess by instituting regime change using ISIS instead of American troops. It’s to stir up flames of hatred against EVERYBODY – Muslim and Christian. They’re meant to start a fire and set the stage for something larger to come on a worldwide basis that sets a pretext for Western rulers to take further control.
Some years back, newly retired, I gave some thought to hiring on with Dyncorp to do police firearms training in Iraq, but decided it was a fools’ errand and not worth months of my time away from my teenage kids.
At least in this case people would be quite motivated, and a contractor’s time would probably not be wasted. What they probably need is Gordon of Khartoum http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_George_Gordon
What they will probably GET will be a yawn from a Community Organizer.
None of these comments are actually about the people of Bartella.
@ Kimberly Jean: Some comments are about the people of Bartella. Although it seems not strictly by your definition. Either way, let’s continue our prayers and sacrifices for the people in the Middle east, which includes Bartella, Africa, China and everywhere the Church is being violently persecuted.
Priam
I had to read your comment a few times and I am still not very sure if I get your meaning.
First, “irritating” is not a word I would use to describe these events or the way the people of Bartella are fighting back. We may have the luxury of being “irritated” by these “fool hardy” and “pathetic militias” sitting in the comforts of our own homes behind computer screens, but the people of Bartella and thousands of Christians around the world do not.
Of course Islam is a theological lightweight. Do you think these people who are raping and pillaging are going to be reasonable enough to engage in a theological debate? They have lost any sense of what they really are. They are not aware that they, and the people they are torturing, are made in the image and likeness of God. They are too blind with their own blood lust and delusions of grandeur.
Maybe you are right in a way. The Church is in a defensive position, but only on the surface of the matter. These desperate people may not have to take up arms against ISIS if we all did our part in living a life of holiness. This is not blaming the people of Bartella, remember after all our Lord said, John 15:18 “If the world hate you, know that it has hated me before you.” So we can expect persecution of all sorts if we are striving to live holy lives. The people of Bartella and towns like theirs have a right to defend themselves and should. What is their alternative? Always running and not being able to provide the basic needs of life for themselves, their families and communities, on their own land? To live under oppression with constant and aggressive pressure to deny their faith and offend God? To live in agonizing fear? What about the Christian community’s wonderful influence it has on society around them? Are they to run and leave their fellow human beings under oppressive rule? Where there is a thriving Christian community there will be a just and peaceful society. As for now, we can’t be at best naive or worst cruel in criticizing them for fighting justly to protect their people from torture and what little resources they have to live in peace. Also, they are not just fighting for their land and resources or even their lives. After all, 600 men do not take up arms to fight because they think they have a great chance at winning a greatly outnumbered battle. They are standing up to evil, they are refusing to flee to places of uncertainty and maybe even greater evil. Let us who are at least physically safe at the moment pray and offer sacrifices on their behalf. That they may have the strength and faith of martyrs because they teeter between life and death everyday, as we all do.
Tomb of the prophet Jonah destroyed!

ISIS is destroying not only Christian and Jewish heritage, but wants to destroy Muslim ones too. The aim is to agitate and provoke everybody. We are dealing with an enemy far deadlier and crazier than Islamic Jihadis.
Bit late to the party on this one, but just happened to be reading St Thomas Aquinas’ Contra Gentiles the other day.
Chapter 6, section 4 is still immensely accurate, and worth quoting in its entirety:
The point is clear in the case of Muhammad. He seduced the people by promises of carnal pleasure to which the concupiscence of the flesh goads us. His teaching also contained precepts that were in conformity with his promises, and he gave free rein to carnal pleasure. In all this, as is not unexpected, he was obeyed by carnal men. As for proofs of the truth of his doctrine, he brought forward only such as could be grasped by the natural ability of anyone with a very modest wisdom. Indeed, the truths that he taught he mingled with many fables and with doctrines of the greatest falsity. He did not bring forth any signs produced in a supernatural way, which alone fittingly gives witness to divine inspiration; for a visible action that can be only divine reveals an invisibly inspired teacher of truth. On the contrary, Muhammad said that he was sent in the power of his arms—which are signs not lacking even to robbers and tyrants. What is more, no wise men, men trained in things divine and human, believed in him from the beginning, Those who believed in him were brutal men and desert wanderers, utterly ignorant of all divine teaching, through whose numbers Muhammad forced others to become his followers by the violence of his arms. Nor do divine pronouncements on the part of preceding prophets offer him any witness. On the contrary, he perverts almost all the testimonies of the Old and New Testaments by making them into fabrications of his own, as can be. seen by anyone who examines his law. It was, therefore, a shrewd decision on his part to forbid his followers to read the Old and New Testaments, lest these books convict him of falsity. It is thus clear that those who place any faith in his words believe foolishly.
